So refreshing to see a Latina who isn’t sassy, brash or seductive and is personality-wise nothing like Meg, Jasmine or Esmeralda. And, no, I don’t like because she is blond, not only blond girls can be gentle, sweet, innocent, ladylike etc, not only lean and petite girls without prominent curves can be like that. I’d love to see once curvy and dark Latina who is personality-wise more like Cinderella or Aurora than like Jasmine or Esmeralda.

Chel is a quite stereotypical Latina to me. Yes, her personality isn’t typical for female lead from kid-friendly Western animated movie( which is not necessarily good, not everything you often see in kid-friendly Western animated movie is bad) not just for Latina one, but in adult media brown women like her are more common than brown woman like Honey Lemon, also it’s not that she has nothing in common with how large-hipped dark-haired women are usually portrayed as in media.

Knowing SU is Brandy makes these comments extra hilarious in hindsight. SU is a rich white latina whose faves are always white haired, light eyed white girls (including one from a family of white supremacists). Like who you like, but have some self-awareness when screeching about something as serious as racism, you hypocritical nutjob.
