A 问题 about KITTENS!!!!!

I foster a lot of 猫 and the majority of them are kittens. Many of these 小猫 do the same thing and I have no clue why. Almost all dig in their water dish before drinking out of it! I dont think I have ever seen an adult cat do either. Does anyone know why 小猫 do this?

The only suggestion I have is can they see their own reflection and because they are 小猫 they have not worked out yet that the cat they can see is themselves.

I have fostered 小猫 over the last few years. I've noticed them do that as well, actually. I think my Mom 说 that it's probably a reference to their wild ancestors who dug their 食物 for safety, and so no other animal smells it and takes it.

It's probably the old reflex of pushing on their mother's tit to get 牛奶 out. Maybe 小猫 associate water with 牛奶 and therefore have this old reflex. Just a thought. Adult 猫 still do this when they settle in a place before sleeping. A comfort gesture.

Though we may think that 猫 hate water, it's an element of play for some of them.
