We hear a lot about sexism against females, and some people think this extends to books, which it probably does. A lot of 图书 have no females in them, 或者 only have weak female characters, like damsels in distress which are just there to be saved 由 males. But recently, there has been a lot of strong, resourceful new female book characters. Here are my favourite strong heroines- and two of them are from 图书 written 由 male authors, so well done men for realising that females can be string too.

1) Kestrel Hath, from The Wind on 火, 消防 series 由 William Nicholson.
Most of 你 probably haven't read this series, but 你 should. Not only is it an incredible story, but it has this incredible character who for me has to be the number 1 heroine. She has everything 你 could ask for: strong, brave, relateable and loving (although she doesn't realise it). She also is admirably stubborn, strong willed, impulsive, has a fiery temper and a strong sense of what's right. She feels a relateable anger at being oppressed 由 society and is 《勇敢传说》 enough to rebel against it.

2) Avry of Kazan, from the Healer series 由 Maria V. Snyder.
Another book 你 probably haven't read but should. Avry is a healer who has been on the run for several years, because she lives in a world which is against healers. She is strong willed and capable of looking after herself and making her own decisions. Her strong will is particularly shown when she refuses to heal the prince she's being asked to heal for a long time, despite what the men who want her to heal him do. Being a healer gives her a strong sense of what's right and a nurturing, "motherly" instinct- she cares deeply for people and can't stand to see them hurt. However, although it goes against her nature, she still learns to fight, and turns out to be quite skilled at it.

3) Katniss Everdeen, from The Hunger Games 由 Suzanne Collins.
A 更多 well known book now (most of 你 have probably read it), but still with an amazing heroine. Katniss is the very definition of mature and resourceful (I mean, she survived in poverty for several years AND managed to take care of her family!). She also appears to have a strong sense of what's right little tolerance of anything else, but instead of breaking her down, this leads her to take action and try to make a change. She is a woman of action. Although she does have a fiery temper, which she usually tries to control- but still flares up sometimes. And of course, she loves very strongly and fiercely- for example, she loves her sister enough to take her place in the games.

4) Eowyn, from The Lord of the Rings, 由 J.R.R. Tolkien
After "The Hobbit" had no woman in it at all, I didn't have much hope that "The Lord of the Rings" would. And although there are other woman in it, most of the main characters are male (the entire fellowship is male)- but Eowyn basically saves everything. She is not a perfect character- she is depressed and yearns for glory! But the fact that she has flaws, that she isn't one dimensional, make her even better and shows how woman are people too. In fact, she seems to embody women's rights- I can't help admire her for the way she goes off with the army disguised as a man... and then she fights as well as any man. This seems to say: "Women are underestimated and oppressed 由
men/society. They need to be 给 a chance,
because they are people too and no less good than men!"

5) Beatrice Prior (Tris), from Divergent 由 Veronica Roth.
Another very strong female heroine from an amazing book series. Tris shares a lot of the qualities that most of the other characters share: strong willed, strong sense of what's right, etc. Although she is blunt and stubborn and in some ways her view of the world is simplistic, at the same time she has a lot of insight and sees the flaws in her world when most people don't. She represents people who don't fit in and find it hard to conform, which a lot of people need- and reassures us that maybe this is a good thing. She is strongly opposed to her restrictive society and an advocate for equality, and she cares so much about her cause and about her 老友记 and peers that in the end (spoiler alert) she sacrifices herself for them, which shows just how "Selfless and brave" she is.

Thank 你 for 阅读 and I hope 你 read some of these 图书 if 你 haven't already. I'm sure 你 agree- strong female heroines like these 5 are amazing!

If 你 enjoy vampires, angels, unique story lines and lots of action then this book is for you. I have just read the first book on the Guild Hunter series 由 Nalini Singh – Angel’s Blood (Guild Hunter, Book 1). This book is a good debut to this series and I found it very different from Ms. Singh’s Psy-Changeling series.
A quick synopsis, Elena Deveraux, she’s a born vampire hunter; her best friend is Sara and she has a few childhood issues. She is a no nonsense type, feminine but tough as nails. She’s summoned 由 the archangel Raphael, he’s a high and mighty 天使 and ruler, he’s...

FIRST part of the book series The children of the earth.

This novel of awesome beauty and power is a moving saga about people, relationships, and the boundaries of love.

Through Jean M. Auel’s magnificent storytelling we are taken back to the dawn of modern humans, and with a girl named Ayla we are swept up in the harsh and beautiful Ice Age world they shared with the ones who called themselves The Clan of the Cave Bear.

Besides the book there was a movie in the 80's starring Daryl Hanna (Kill bill).

Totally Amazing!! Every Woman Should read it!!

 I 爱情 this book cover.
I love this book cover.
Hi everyone, I had finally read Paulo Cuelho's bestselling novel, The Alchemist and here is my review on the 流行的 novel.

The Story

While 阅读 the novel, I did not quite understand the story and it was not until the 秒 half of the story that I managed to understand. It telling us to follow our dreams if a person desires for it!

The Characters

Santiago (or the Boy in this story) is a very likable character because he manage to understand what the Alchemist is telling despite being relatively young, he is my favourite character out of the novel!
The other characters like the Englishman and just to name a few are very ambiguous, if 你 ask me.

Is It Worth Reading?

Yes, I highly recommend this book for those who have not read it yet!

We all know stories of werwolves, but professer lupin, a teacher at Hogwarts, is a freindly one with a background of mystery. J.K. Rowling made it clear that he is a character to like. All of her characters are eteremly likeable, even the vilanous lucsious malfoy. The 100 Most Influential 图书 Ever Written: The History of Thought from Ancient Times to Today

I am 由 no means a great votary of any kind of "Best" lists and find them too subjective and at times highfalutin. But this 列表 of the 100 most influential & mind-expanding 图书 ever written seemed quite apposite and all-encompassing. British literary critic & historian Seymour-Smith's survey of what he considers the 100 most influential 图书 is a searching inquiry into major thinkers, writers and philosophers. The Vampire Game trilogy
The Vampire Game trilogy
I was recently asked 由 a collegue what my 最喜爱的 read of the 年 was--I review a hell of a lot of new material every year. Matter-of-factly, I blurted out my answer without a 秒 thought, "The Vampire Game 由 Les Bailey," I told him. "In fact, I loved the entire trilogy, It was extremely well written and the 写作 pulled me into another world away from my own. And the way I see it, that's exactly what a good novel is supposed to do!" I told him.

When I first came across Bailey's novel, he was a first-time published author. New to the world of publishing, 或者 so I was told 由 his agent,...
