In the first Odd Thomas book, he tries to figure out why the malicious spirits known to him as bodachs are swarming Pico Mundo, the small desert town he lives in. He and his girlfriend Stormy Lewlynn try to get to the bottom of the mysterious appearances before a great disaster happens and hundreds lose their lives.
