Chapter 4
When Booth entered the room, he was greeted 由 Angela and Hodgins. He asked. “Where is Bones?”
Angela answered. “She is not here yet.”
At that Booth quickly introduced Sister Mary Magdalene to Angela and Hodgins and explained that she was originally Vickie Stuart. Just then Brennan entered the room. She took one look at her old friend and she wanted to say something but the words were stuck in her throat. It was Vickie who broke the silence when she said. “Oh Temperance, I am so sorry for what happened between us so many years ago, can 你 forgive me?” 识骨寻踪 looked at her with tears in her eyes and said. “I’m sorry as well.”
Then they both started to talk as if making up for 迷失 time, when Booth had to cut in and say. “Bones we need to solve the murder first.”
识骨寻踪 looked at him and responded. “You’re right.”
识骨寻踪 then told Vickie about the murder of Jill Hollingsworth and that it looks like Bruce maybe the murderer. She asked if Vickie would provide any details about the attempted rape charge she made against Bruce.
Vickie told them that when she had gone out with Bruce that night he had tried to force himself on her but she pushed him away. That’s when he 说 that he would tell everyone that she was gay and there was nothing she could do about it. And when she still fought him off, he had 说 to her that he never did have sex with Temperance because she was gay just like her.
“When he 说 that I ran away from him and complained to the police, but the police 说 he had an alibi for that night. Temperance when 你 told me that 你 did not have sex with him, I thought it was because 你 had told him I was gay. I now realize that he lied to just get even.”
“Sister, do 你 think that he might have tried to rape Jill Hollingsworth and something went wrong?” Booth asked.
“No I knew Jill and she was going with someone else at the time but I never knew who it was. She just told me that I would be surprised if I knew.”
识骨寻踪 inquired. “Who was it that gave Bruce an alibi?”
“It was his best friend Thomas, Tiffany’s brother. They were always giving each other alibis all the time. That’s why he never was arrested for his assaults.”
Booth looked at 识骨寻踪 and said. “I’m going to have the police pull him in on the murder charge and see what he says. If Thomas gives him an alibi, then we need to rethink who might have done this but it could be her boyfriend but we don’t know who that is.”
Booth called the police and told them to pull Bruce in and he would be there to help with the interrogation. As soon as he hung up he turned to 识骨寻踪 and said. “You stay here and catch up with your friend while I do my thing.”
After he left, Angela and Hodgins 说 that they were heading back to DC later today and won’t be staying for the reunion 晚餐 dance, because they were only here to aid in the murder investigation. Brennan told them. “Thank 你 both for helping and I’ll see 你 back in DC when this is finished.”
She then turned to Vickie and they both sat down to talk and catch up with each others lives. 识骨寻踪 learned that Vickie had found her place in the church and Vickie learned 更多 about what had happened with Brennan since high school, her work at the Jeffersonian, her success at 写作 novels and her work with Booth. Vickie said. “So Mr. Booth is with the FBI and 你 work with him on solving unusual cases. He sounds like he is 更多 than a partner, Tempe. I mean he did come here to help 你 as a close friend.”
“Vickie we are just partners.”
“As 你 say Tempe but I think there is something 更多 there then 你 want to admit.”
“I see that 你 still have that imagination. Are 你 staying tonight for the dinner?” Brennan asked in order to change the subject.
“No Tempe, I need to get back to my convent 由 tomorrow morning, but I have your number and we will keep in touch. I am so glad that we found each other again.”
They had not realized that they had been talking for so long until Booth came back into the room. He told them how when the police started to 问题 Bruce, he 说 he had an alibi. His alibi was that he was with Thomas. When they questioned Thomas, he gave a different answer as to where they were that night. When pressed they claimed it was to long 以前 to remember. Then Tiffany showed up and claimed that Bruce was with her that night because that was the night she got pregnant and that Thomas was with his girlfriend. When they asked for the girlfriend’s name, she 说 her name was Jill something 或者 other. It turned out that Thomas had killed Jill; Bruce had provided him an alibi for that night back when it happened and will be charged with accessory after the fact. Tiffany will also be charged as she provided false alibis for Bruce with respect to the charges of rape.
“Booth then that means Mr. Schneider is no longer a suspect. I had better tell him.”
“Bones I saw him in the lobby and let him know what happened, because he needed to know.”
“Thank you, Booth.”
“So are the two of 你 going to the 晚餐 tonight?”
“Booth 你 aren’t staying?”
“No Bones, I have to get back to DC. What about Angela and Hodgins?”
“They have already left for DC.”
“Agent Booth, I also will not be staying as I must return to my convent 由 tomorrow morning. It was a pleasure meeting 你 and thank 你 for getting me together with Temperance.”
“It was nice meeting you, Sister.”
As she left the room, Booth turned to 识骨寻踪 and said. “Why don’t 你 come back to DC tonight, 你 don’t have to go to this dinner. The murder has been solved which is why 你 came.”
“I have to attend the 晚餐 Booth, I need to face these people and 显示 them that I did succeed. Besides I have to stay another 日 because I have a 电视 interview tomorrow with Oprah. Whoever that is.”
“When did they ask 你 about this interview?” Booth asked.
“Just before I came back to the room after 你 found Vickie I got a call from my publisher. It seems that one of Oprah’s staff is at the reunion and recognized my name. Then they called my publisher who then called me. It seems that this will help in promoting my 下一个 book coming out in eleven weeks. I don’t know how though.”
“Bones 你 need to get a TV set.”
“Booth I need to get ready for the 晚餐 tonight.”
“OK Bones. I’m going downstairs to check on the 下一个 flight to DC.”
As Booth approached the reception desk, he was surrounded 由 the three women he had met earlier.
Barbara Williams was the first to speak. “Oh Mr. Booth have 你 heard. The police just arrested Thomas for the murder of that girl. They also arrested his sister Tiffany and her husband Bruce. That was the man 你 played golf with.”
“I wonder how the police figured it out so quickly because it was over fifteen years ago?” Peggy added. She was still giving Booth the once over.
Then Debbie Harcourt chimed in with. “I’m bet Mr. Schneider is relieved. I’m also sure that he will be sitting with Temperance Brennan and her ‘friend’. It must have been true what they 说 about her in school.”
Booth asked. “What did they say about her?”
Peggy answered. “She’s gay.”
When Booth heard this, he knew he could not leave 识骨寻踪 to face these women 由 herself. He knew he had to catch a later flight. So Booth said.
“Well ladies if 你 will excuse me, I need to go and get ready for 晚餐 with my wife. “
As he went up stairs back to the room he passed Mr. Schneider.
“Agent Booth 你 are coming to the dinner. Temperance is joining me for a drink to celebrate and we will be sitting at 表 three.”
“I’ll be there as soon as I get a 淋浴 and dressed. Enjoy your drink, but remember that is my wife.” He 说 with a smile.
识骨寻踪 was just exiting the room when he got back to the room. “Booth what time is your flight?”
“Not until later, I’m going to take a shower. I met Mr. Schneider. He 说 he was waiting for you.”
Meanwhile Mr. Schneider was talking with another alumnus. He was telling him about Dr. Brennan and how with her husband Agent Booth of the FBI, they managed to solve a fifteen 年 old murder in two days. The man 说 that he thought that Dr. Brennan was not married. Mr. Schneider was trying to keep their cover story, so he said. “Oh that’s what most people think, because they usually refer to each other as partners to avoid 问题 about how it is to work with your spouse.”
“Thanks for that insight.” The man 说 as he excused himself when Brennan entered the room. He had to go and tell this information to the staff at Oprah’s show. He was the one who had spotted her at the reunion and he wanted to give them this info for tomorrow’s interview.
As Brennan joined Mr. Schneider at the bar, she saw the women she had met the first night and was glad that she was not sitting with them.
“Well Mr. Schneider what are we going to drink to celebrate?”
“I think we all should have a couple of bottles of champagne. I’ll have it brought to our 表 along with the glasses.”
As they sat down the waiter brought two bottles of champagne and three glasses. Brennan could hear the women at the 下一个 表 saying how the third glass is for her ‘friend’.
Brennan was trying to ignore them as the waiter poured the champagne into the glasses. As she reached for her glass, Mr. Schneider said. “Let’s wait for your husband, Temperance. He 说 he will be right down.”
Brennan looked at Mr. Schneider perplexed but then realized he might be saying it for the women at the 下一个 table. What she did not see was that Booth had entered the room, because she was seated with her back to the door.
As he approached the table, the ladies at the 下一个 表 were watching him approach and 你 could see that they expected him to sit at their table. He saw them and knew exactly what to do. He walked over to Brennan and as he sat down 下一个 to her, leaned over, put his hand on the nap of her neck and placed a gentle 吻乐队（Kiss） on her cheek right in front of the women. Their reaction was as expected. They could not contain their embarrassment.
Brennan was about to say something when she saw the women at the 下一个 表 looking at them.
As the 晚餐 started, the class president announced that he was presenting an award to Mr. Schneider for all his years at the school.
Mr. Schneider went up to the podium and accepted the award and in his speech he thanked the famous mystery writer Dr. Temperance Brennan of the Jeffersonian and her husband Special Agent Seeley Booth of the FBI for solving the murder of fifteen years 以前 while they were here at the reunion.
As the evening wore on, Mr. Schneider excused himself because at his age he needs his sleep and he had drunk one glass to many. 由 now they were starting their third bottle of champagne. But before he left he thanked them for their help. He shook Booth’s hand and kissed Brennan on the cheek.
After Mr. Schneider left, Booth pulled 识骨寻踪 to the dance floor and danced with her closely. 识骨寻踪 felt so relaxed in his arms, he knew that she needed some rest, but he enjoyed having her in his arms. As they walked back to their 表 at the end of the dance, Barbara stopped them and said. “Temperance, why don’t 你 and your husband 加入 us at our table? We would 爱情 to catch up with you.” “We had no idea 你 were a famous author.” Debbie added.
Booth responded before 识骨寻踪 could say anything. “Sorry ladies, but I have to be back in DC and my wife has an interview with Oprah tomorrow.”
识骨寻踪 looked at Booth and whispered loud enough for the women to hear. “Let’s finish our champagne in our room because I won’t see 你 till tomorrow night.” She then planted a 吻乐队（Kiss） firmly on his lips.
识骨寻踪 then grabbed the bottle and glasses from their table, Booth wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close to him to keep her steady as she also was a little intoxicated.
The man from the Oprah 显示 also saw the kiss. This confirmed for him the story that they were 更多 than partners.
When they got back to their room, 识骨寻踪 quickly kicked off her shoes and twirled around with the bottle in one hand and the glasses in the other. Booth had to grab for her to stop before she fell over. She put her arms around Booth’s neck and in a slurred voice said. “I am so happy; those women were terrible to me in school. Thank 你 Booth.” She then pulled him closer and kissed him full on the lips.
“Bones 你 need to get some rest. Let’s put the champagne down.”
“No let’s finish it.”
He knew that she was feeling no pain but another glass would not matter at this point. So he filled the glasses and they toasted their success with solving the murder.
As he finished his glass 识骨寻踪 came over and said. “Did I say thank you?”
“Yes 识骨寻踪 你 did.”
“Oh yes, thank 你 Booth.” And she kissed him again but this time with tongue action.
“Bones 你 need to get some sleep.”
“Your right Booth we need to go to bed. Here let me help 你 get undressed.” She then undid his tie and started to unbutton his shirt. He tried to stop her but she kept slipping her hands out of his grasp and as he tried to twist away from her she grabbed his 夹克 and pulled it off. He was now standing there with no jacket, 或者 tie and his 衬衫 was completely unbuttoned.
“Bones 你 need to get in 床, 床上 and get some sleep.”
“All right, Booth.” 识骨寻踪 then reached behind herself and unzipped her dress which then fell to the floor. She stood there in front of Booth with only her panties on. Booth could not help but notice that her breasts were perfectly rounded and just his hand size. He could feel his desire for her going to his groin. He needed to get her into 床, 床上 and he needed to take a cold shower.
