I think that his was largely influenced 由 his parents and his environment and experiences while growing up. Both Baz's parents did Ballroom competitions, thus growing up around the very subject matter of his first three films.
He also dabbled in the theater - on stage and working behind. He also has a passion for opera and 音乐 in general.
And maybe he was inspired and influenced 由 some of his favourite films- 星, 星级 80, 8½, War and Peace, Medium Cool and Fitzcarraldo
