Atheism Article: One-sided World

There has been thoughts on my mind a lot these last few days and I think its time I talk about them.

But before I go on, let me just say that I am NOT trying to make people angry 或者 start a "war" on the 'net, I'm just gonna say how I honestly feel about all this.

When I go on the 'net, I discover tons of "religious wars" going back and forth over who's right 或者 wrong about what people believe and the way they think.

To me, I choice to be in the neutral spot when it comes to things like this. Why? Because humans have become "one-sided" and are getting worse. Only focusing on one side causes fights and crap.

What I mean is that, its similar to this....

Believer: "Your view is wrong! You're gonna burn in Hell!"

and then....

Non-believer: "No, you're wrong! You're belief is illogical!".

Now I know people have their own thoughts on how they view things (which is fine) but its when they use their 查看 of things to cause unnecessary, silly arguments. And I get it, not every human will get along but I know if some tried, they'd find that life is easier when we realize that, though we're different, we're all still one human race. I even have "friends" on here that aren't "religious" but we get along fine.

But at times it's like neither side takes enough time to understand the other. And yeah, I GET it, but really? To be 更多 specific: Some Christian's (NOT all) claim that if someone doesn't believe on God, they must be "evil."

And I'm like, how do THEY know? Sometimes when someone doesn't believe, it could be a lotta things like how God is outside their own understanding, 或者 because they believe in what they see. Not saying I'm an expert on this, saying that to some, God maybe a little hard to comprehend.

And then I've also seen 评论 on "religion", stating how "Christian's" force their 查看 on others and how they're dumb for believing in God.

Sadly, some "Christian's" do tend to be overly-religious, and can be a bit forceful. And that's not right. 你 cannot force someone into anything, no matter how strongly 你 believe. But I'm NOT forceful. I believe in God and I would 爱情 to share 耶稣 with them, however, I don't expect everyone to believe what I do. Not everyone believes, I understand that. However, the same applies to non-Christians when I say that 你 shouldn't always be so hostile to those who believe in God, for the reason I mentioned: I'm not here to force 你 into anything. I'm not here to bash 你 for what 你 believe. (NOT assuming all of 你 are hostile, but just pointing out the ones that are) And that sometimes people have personal reasons for believing in God--some people feel that they NEED God, and I think people should respect that.

Having different 查看 is OK, but they don't have to "divided" us. That is why I choose to be "Neutral", not one-sided.

PS: I HATE the term "religion" so much. It bugs me.

To be honest, this is the kind of attitude that really bugs me. I'm not afraid of a belief I don't believe in. I don't "feel no need for Him" because I don't believe "he" exists. So talking this way about atheists is actually very patronising. I sense that you aren't deliberately being patronising, but this is part of the communication problem between atheism and religious discourse. From an atheist perspective, religious attitudes like these treat atheists as if they simply ignorant. So preaching tolerance and harmony while simultaneously condemning is at least one point of tension between atheism and religions. It creates the division that you talk about avoiding.

ShadowFan100 I never stated this about ALL of them, it was mainly meant as a general sense. I wasn't speaking about any certain KIND. Sorry if u misunderstood. I could just go back and re-word it a lil. While I do talk about "harmony", I do also mention how not everyone will get along. I'm not blind to reality, I know humans will always argue.

misanthrope86 I didn't say that you said all. I'm saying that I've never heard an atheist give those reasons for disbelief. Have atheists offered you those explanations? What I'm saying is that you may be preaching about harmony, but the way in which these things are spoken about actually [i]negate[i] harmony. That isn't about arguing. It is about being aware of what your words are doing.

ShadowFan100 Well I've spoken to a lots of atheists, and some reasons have to do with how they say there's no proof and or how the idea of a Creator is idiotic. On a side note, maybe I should remove this article. I fear my intentions may have backfired. I know I can't do everything, but I at least wanted to try and speak out about how I felt. One things true: You can't please everyone.

misanthrope86 So the comments that I picked out (and italicised in my first comment) are your assessment of atheist beliefs, not reasons that atheists have offered you for their non-belief? I don't think you should remove the article. This debate based on the ideas that you presented. I don't think you have any reason to remove it. I was just engaging with what you have said here. That is kinda the point, isn't it?

ShadowFan100 Well now that you mention it, I guess they were assumptions. IDK I guess I kinda thought that maybe some Atheists felt "afraid" because I do think that sometimes, believing in someone you can't see CAN be very terrifying. And yes, that is the point. Sometimes I tend to try and reason with both sides on subjects like this. I try to be that one person who speaks out about how they feel, but also knows of the risks he/she takes while doing so. So.....anything else about the article "pop out" at you?

misanthrope86 I can understand that. I don't think it quite works that way for people who don't believe though. The non-belief kinda excludes that terror, because the non-belief is in place before any "fears" like you describe can be considered. That's cool. I always like to see people from any worldview engaging with other worldviews. That's how we learn! Not particularly. I agree that both "sides" approach each other with unnecessary hostility. But I think that hostility either comes from ignorance (sometimes willful, sometimes not) or oppression.
