Elena walked into the 厨房 and froze in her tracks. It was a mess! Dishes were piled high in the sink and there was grim covering the floor, which was buried under a foot of trash.
“Might as well get to work,” Elena said. She pulled a Persian blue ribbon from around her neck and tied her hair back. She grabbed all the 厨房 cleaning supplies from the closet and got to work.
First, Elena loaded all of the dishes into the dishwasher and started it. It will be done 由 the time I finish everything else, she thought.
It took twenty 分钟 to bag up the trash and take it outside. Elena discovered a Radio/CD player in all of the garbage. She set it on the counter and plugged it in. She tuned in to her 最喜爱的 radio station and got back to work.
Elena then tackled the floor. She had a mixture of hot water, soap, bleach, and Pine sol. She got down on her hands and knees and scrubbed with all of her might. Soon, the floor began to look white again.
Elena started to hum along to the songs on the radio as she got to work on the counter. The black marble sparkled in the light after it was clean. Elena dusted and scrubbed the cupboards.
“Having fun?” A cold voice 说 from behind her. Elena squealed. She quickly turned around and saw Artemis leaning against the doorway. She placed her hand over her heart.
“You scared me,” she exclaimed, breathing deeply to try and slow her 心 rate.
“I’m sorry,” Artemis apologized as he walked into the kitchen. He stopped and looked around. “Wow, this is amazing,” he said, running his finger across the counter.
“Thank you,” Elena said. The dishwasher beep and Elena hurried over to unload it. She picked up a plate and dropped it.
“Dang it,” she said, running her hand under cold water.
Artemis chuckled. “I’m guessing it’s hot,” he teased.
“Oh ha, ha. Very funny,” Elena’s voice dripping in sarcasm. “By the way, be careful I just…” There was a crash behind her. She turned around to see Artemis on his butt on the floor.
“Waxed the floor,” she finished a little to late.
“Thank 你 for the heads up,” Artemis said, blowing a strand of hair out of his eyes. Elena giggled. It sounded the little bells. Artemis just sat on the floor staring at Elena.
“Here,” Elena said, offering her hand to help him up. He took it graciously. Artemis dusted himself off and Elena turned back to unload the dishwasher, again. The dishes had cooled off enough that she could handle them.
“So,” Elena 说 as she put the last of the dishes into the newly cleaned cupboards. “What do 你 want for dinner?” She asked Artemis who was still standing behind her.
“Oh, well, what can 你 cook?” he asked.
Elena shrugged. “Anything really.” She walked over to the pantry and opened the door. She gasped. This is the biggest pantry I have ever seen! she thought.
The pantry was about 4 feet wide and 10 feet long. There were five shelves on each side, filled to the brim with food. Elena walked into the pantry with her mouth hanging open. Artemis smiled and walked to the pantry doorway.
“I have never seen this much 食物 in my entire life,” Elena said, spinning in circles inside the pantry.
Artemis chuckled. “Yeah. Sometime Mother goes a little overboard when it comes to shopping.”
Elena raised her eyebrows. “A little? She made me promise to go with her whenever she asked.” Then something caught Elena’s eye. She grabbed it off the shelf.
“Oh my gosh,” she said, turning the package over in her hands. “I haven’t had these in forever.” She turned back to Artemis. “How do 你 feel about 龙虾 for dinner?” she asked, holding up the pack of crustaceans.
“Sure,” Artemis said, shrugging. Elena got to work on the lobsters and Artemis went back up to his study.
