Well the way I see it, Alvin is the one conducting them (because it's called Alvin's orchestra) and maybe the cartoonists made a mistake and forgot to add the glasses to Simon?

I dpn't think Simon had glasses before The Alvin Show. Sometimes they have a letter on their clothes so 你 can tell them apart, but I can't in this picture...
