frostydragon This is a very good article. The worst problem we have in America is the mixing of Washington and Religion. Thats like military intelligence. ????? They don't mix. A family from India once told me that it was a a free country like America. I asked how can that be. Your government for religious reasons makes it illegal to eat a cow. Starve but let to cow live. Well Washington aren't the people of America starving for the equal rights and freedom this country was founded on. And if a church is gonna preach hate and words against there own gods teachings, well it's their Hell let them burn in it. Isn't there suppose to be separation of church and state.

Persephone713 I agree. Maybe years ago religion worked in the capitol. But there is so much diversity...that not everyone " worships one God" and people shouldn't be condemned for it. Plus I think it has become a marketing ploy for Republicans to win elections- they say God..people come crawling like they have the keys to heaven and the R. laugh their way to the bank saying " suckers"

LadyNottingham Great article, Persephone, as usual. I can see that we all have the same issues. I'm in France. In 1906, we had chosen to keep the Church and the State separated after several centuries of mixing both. Now I would like to have the same separation but this time, between Corporations and the State. General De Gaulle used to say that the French are like "oxen" - or sheep if you prefer - that is, we are just following. Following what ? The one that has the more money ? The one that speaks louder than the others ? The one that is promising stuff and will not keep his word the very minute he's elected ? Like the president we have now. France is a laic country. But some people (me among them) notice that religion is back into the public life, while it should belong only to the private life. And I would not mind if religion were there to tell our politicians : "Beware, people are suffering. You are unfair. You are greedy. Etc." But no. Or so little. They only talk about separating the various religious communities instead of uniting the people. Besides, there's another religion that has invaded our public life : MONEY. Unfettered, globalized capitalism that ruins both people and environment, mongers war, kills people and bring destruction. Money has become a god our politicians, at any levels, are worshipping, sacrificing people on the altar. See all the money we gave to the banks while it could have been wisely spent to reduce poverty, fund research for the betterment of the human condition and improve the life of our human fellows. The great stateman Jean Jaurès (early 20th century) used to say that "capitalism bears in itself war like clouds can bear a storm" (translation of "Le capitalisme porte en lui la guerre comme la nuée porte l'orage."). How true. More than ever, a century later. Yes, we need winds of change to sweep away all these rotten politicians. We the people, wherever we are, we have to send them away. Que se vayan todos !

frostydragon The worst thing is I honestly with all my years can I say this party or that party or even Independents being any different. To me they all are the same when it comes down to refusing the separate of religion and state. Each uses the same goal but different wrapping. One party is just in your face in a plain brown paper bag and the other pretties it up with ribbons and bows. But inside is the same story. A FDIC Bank should not be allowed to give special rates to customers because they are christian or prove they are a member of a church. This is A federally insured bank federal moneys. That goes against separation. America was founded on those seeking religious freedom. We need to remind our government of this. They claim trying to bring back morals and values but are they saying a pagan has low morals and values. Well isn't that discriminating against me or someone gay or how about the idea in courts that a single man can't be just as good a parent as a single woman. Discrimination is everywhere and we fight each one everyday. One by one by shoving it in their face how wrong they are and close minded.
