随意 People with horrible spelling can be just as intelligent as people with clean spelling.

Unless it's a few words wrong due to dyslexia...otherwise such bad spelling usually tells me these people spent time texting in a class like English when they should have been learning proper grammar.

It may just be laziness or trying to annoy people. Or they could be foreign.

@Jeffersonian: that's such a bias. That person could just be from a different country, and may not be too adept at English. For example, my girlfriend's English is below average, but her IQ is 160.

Late edit: and my English is great, compared to most students at school, and my IQ is only 68.

Spelling might not be that person's stong suit and they may have intelligent strengths elsewhere.
They could also be from a non-English speaking country and may just be starting to learn the language.

I have dyslexia, so I have a hard time sounding out and spelling some words. So I understand why some people have a hard time spelling, so no just because you can't spell some words doesn't mean you're stupid.

Well both cases can be true honestly. Someone could be foreign and doesn't know how to speak English well and they could be highly intelligent. Some people have disabilities that give them a hard time spelling. But.....then you have some people who are bad spellers because they want to irritate people and/or they might not be smart. I think it depends on the person honestly. It's actually possible for someone to be on either side of the coin.

It depends on what you mean. If you mean they use "u" instead of "you", then yes, I believe so. But if someone cannot spell correctly, and someone else can, then the superior speller would be considered of higher intelligence. That is, if it is their first language. If it isn't I can understand.

Some people purposely misspell wrong for whatever reason. Seems ridiculous to me though, especially if one is in a debate with someone and they're typing like some of the buttons on their keyboard is missing.

^ That's exactly the reason why I use perfect English in my text messages.
