How can I take video clips from my own DVDs?

I see lots of vids where people have taken clips from their own copies and used them in their movies. How can I do that?

What I do is I download a 'hypercam' (which is free from the internet), play my movie in windows media player (or whatever programme 你 use to play DVDs), and use the hypercam to record any bits of the movie I need. It's really quite simple :D

I just wanted to say that :D only I use fraps. It works better than hypercam (my opinion)
