Chapter 7

After a good cry, I feel a little better. I decide to take a shower. The feeling of warm water on my face and body calms my frazzled nerves and allows me to block out all the painful thoughts that have been running through my head. It feels good to not think for a little while.

The sound of my cell phone beeping on the bathroom countertop brings me back to reality. I shut the water off, take the towel from the rack, and 包, 换行 it around myself. When I pick up the phone, I see that I’ve received three text messages. The first one is from my brother Ben who tells me that he’s safe...

The 音乐 is blaring loudly as the presenters for the Best 吻乐队(Kiss) award approach the podium. I can feel my 心 beating faster as they begin to name the nominees for this category. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have won the award for three years in a row so I tell myself that my chances of winning the award with Josh are almost slim to none.

When they announce our names, I smile brightly for the cameras. Josh smiles at me and I pat his leg in response. I don’t know why I’m so nervous. After the Academy awards last year, I thought nothing could be 更多 nerve-wracking. Yet...

After the song ends, I pull away from Josh. Wordlessly, we walk off the dance floor and toward the entrance for the after party. As we exit the building, we’re greeted 由 a slew of paparazzi. They shout out 问题 like “So are 你 two officially dating now?” and “Where are 你 off to now?” I hide my face as best as I can and pick up my pace. When we reach his car, we jump in and Josh starts the motor and speeds away.

For the first couple of minutes,...

After I 吻乐队(Kiss) Josh, he gives me a quizzical look and says, “I’m not convinced.”

So I 吻乐队(Kiss) him again. Then he says, “I’m still not convinced.” I start to get a little annoyed and then I notice that he has a smirk on his face so I decide to play along.

“So…what’s it going to take to convince you?” He leans back in the couch, puts his hand on his chin, and says, “Well, if 你 put it that way…” Before he can finish his sentence, I fling a throw 枕头 at his head.

“Hey,” he exclaims in mock offense. Then he throws the 枕头 right back at me. I am about to throw...

Chapter 6

I don’t respond to the question. Instead, I suggest that we go home. He nods in agreement.

“I had to see for myself,” Nick quietly says. He looks tired and sad. I want to go over and give him a hug but I know that that would be the wrong thing to do now. Instead, I just stand 由 the front door and say, “What do 你 mean?”

“Jennifer, I think we’ve known each other long enough to dispense with any pretense,” says Nick with a slight edge to his voice. Then he sits down on the 长椅, 沙发 and buries his face in his hands. After a moment, he turns, looks at me and says, “So are...

These are excerpts from Now Magazine:

Josh, 19, loved working with Jennifer.

'She's one of the most genuine people that I've ever had the pleasure of getting to meet and work with,' he tells us.

'She's beautiful and talented, so it's like a whirlwind of awesomeness and it's hard
to take in all at once.'

Though there was no real-life romance, Josh and Jennifer did form a close bond because they're both from Kentucky.

'I definitely fell in 爱情 with her as a friend, for sure,' says Josh.

'We're from the same part of the US and we sort of have the same outlook on life, so we hit
it off right away.

Chapter 5

The 下一个 morning, I have breakfast with my brother, and then see him off when the shuttle comes to pick him up. After he leaves, I crawl back into 床, 床上 and fall asleep.

Around 10 a.m., I wake up to the sound of my phone beeping. I’m inclined to just lie in 床, 床上 and ignore it but decide to pick it up off the nightstand. It’s a text message—from Nick. It says, “Just caught the plane to LA.Will see 你 soon.” I check to see when the message was sent and the phone says that it was sent to me at 6:30 am. I text him back to see what time he’s coming. He quickly replies, “Morning,...

When I walk in the door, I see my brother sitting on the 粪便, 凳子 in the 厨房 snacking on some leftover pie. He looks up at me and says, “You look like hell.”

“Thanks,” I reply. I fling myself on the 长椅, 沙发 and bury my face in my hands. Ben comes over and places his hand on my shoulder and says, “That bad, eh. Personally, I don’t see what either one of them sees in you.” We both laugh.

“Oh God. I’ve made such a mess of things.”

He replies, “Yeah, it sure seems like it. Want a drink?”

I shake my head and say, “I already feel awful enough. The last thing I need...
