Lately, we\'ve seen Disney Princesses spark the imagination of artists. From reimagining them as Renaissance portraits or fashion illustrations to makeup artists dressing up as their favorite princess, there\'s something for everyone. But no one has captured the spunky spirit of these heroines quite like illustrator Fernanda Suarez.

The Chilean artist has drawn seven different princesses since July, imagining them as bold, confident young women who look like they could take on any villain—no prince needed. Ariel, with her flowing red locks, sports a small crab tattoo on her wrist, while Belle wears a denim jacket with a rose patch as she reads a book. They all look boldly at the viewer, bucking the damsel in distress stereotype that fills most of their tales.

Drawn straight from contemporary life, it\'s not hard to imagine these ladies conquering the social media world, posting strong selfies on Instagram or teaching a makeup tutorial on YouTube. And if your favorite princess isn\'t represented, don\'t worry. On Suarez\'s Patreon—where she also runs tutorials and gives high-resolution files of the images to supporters—she\'s taking opinions on which Disney Princess to depict next.
