As asteriamalfoy recently reported on the club wall, it appears that Moana will soon become the newest member of the 迪士尼 Princess lineup. The club's reception to the news is a mixed bag, which is the latest example of how the general 潮流粉丝俱乐部 opinion (namely, this club's opinion) doesn't always match that of the internet. It's interesting why that is, and I will attempt to find the reason here.

Before going forward, be aware that everything that I consider an "opinion" of 潮流粉丝俱乐部 and/or the internet is a generalization. True, there are some users on both this website and the rest of the worldwide web who are in their respective minorities. This is merely a breakdown of how I see it and my attempt to get to the root of the issue -- why is Moana beloved in some places, but not in others? Time to find out.

The Difference of Opinion
I find that on Youtube, Disney-related sites (such as "Oh My Disney"), and other sites (Buzzfeed and the like), Moana is a well-liked character. The common reasons people like her from what I've seen are:

• She's responsible; even though she wants to explore the ocean, she does what's right and chooses to lead her people. And she enjoys it, too!
• She's self-reliant; she doesn't need to be constantly saved, and she can save the 日 pretty much on her own.
• On a related note, she "doesn't need a man."
• On a separate related note, she's quick-thinking and resourceful, 或者 what some people call "badass."
• She doesn't have the traditional look of a 迪士尼 Princess, i.e. no formal 袍, 礼服 and different body type. This gives her a new and perhaps 更多 realistic look.
• She renounces the princess name.

Then 你 check out the DP club on Fanpop, and 你 find that generally, Moana is not particularly loved, for reasons including:

• She has little to no flaws.
• She doesn't have much of a personality.
• She's just a mish-mash of the princesses who came before her -- nothing new.
• She renounces the princess name.

That's quite a contrast in opinion, and maybe a little surprising that a place dedicated to the DPs generally doesn't take too kindly to her. I think I've discovered why this contrast exists, though.

The 来源 of the Difference
Perhaps this contrast is because people that 你 find elsewhere on the internet have a different set of character traits/qualities that they value than the ones on this club. From what I understand, the general internet crowd values 迪士尼 Princesses and heroines who:

• Add something new to the lineup
• Are strong and can work independently
• Are determined and don't give up
• Are admirable

On this club, I think we have a different set of values for DPs. We like those who:

• Add something new to the lineup
• Are realistic and/or relatable
• Stand for something positive regarding princess-hood, femininity, etc. without feeling forced 或者 too "in your face"
• Respect the DP franchise

Regarding the first bullet point -- I believe both sides like it when a princess/heroine adds something to the lineup, but it is seen in different ways. The internet seems to like how Moana invokes new positive qualities such as the desire and willingness to lead, which, let's be honest, hasn't been done with a DP before, at least not explicitly. I theorize that users on this club, including myself, consider all of the positive qualities of the character and how those stack up against the existing DPs, not just the new ones. For example, action-packed (Rapunzel), self-doubt (Pocahontas, Mulan), determined (Ariel), outspoken (Merida), and funny (Rapunzel, Anna) are all traits that we've seen in other princesses and heroines. The number of familiar traits can make the actual new traits seem like not enough.

However, I think the above argument is only a tiny part of why the 潮流粉丝俱乐部 opinion is 更多 critical. The remaining bullet points are key. As stated, Moana does 显示 a desire and willingness to lead her people, which would fit the desired element of saying something positive about princess-hood (er, leader-hood, 或者 how about just leadership). Is it in your face? I'm going to lean towards "no," but -- now I'm going to bring my own opinion into the mix -- it's one of the reasons I have difficulty latching onto her character. Despite Moana having this very positive quality going for her, she doesn't feel realistic to me. Her turn-around from wanting to sail the seas to being perfectly content staying and leading is just too sudden. With few flaws to balance it out, she comes across as a little too perfect to me. Perhaps this lack of realism and relatability is what others dislike, too.

It's often 说 that a strong character is one who works through their flaws; ergo, a strong female character is one who works through her flaws. Moana might have flaws, but maybe they don't get the focus they need to make us think, "Oh yeah, she overcame that flaw, achieved her goals, and learned something from this adventure." If that's the case, then the positive femininity thing doesn't really work. It's almost too positive, 或者 impossibly positive. We need something 更多 convincing if the takeaway is that a girl/lady/woman can achieve great things.

The biggest issue that Fanpoppers have with Moana comes from this line: "First off, I'm not a princess. I'm the daughter of the chief." This statement has not been well-received because for some, it implies that Moana is disrespecting the 迪士尼 Princess name. I shared that opinion too at one point. It may just be 迪士尼 poking fun at itself, but it can rub 粉丝 the wrong way. If this character who seemingly fits the DP mold can't appreciate the leading ladies who came before her...well, how the heck are we supposed to like her? Contrast this with the general internet's opinion, where people take it to mean that Moana doesn't have to be bogged down 由 the 标题 of princess; one can be a strong character without having a royal 标题 或者 other high status. Or, maybe people like it because it detaches her from the princess stereotype that they can't stand.

The 更多 I think about it, the 更多 I think that line is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can be perceived as, "Oh yeah, 你 don't need to be a princess to save the 日 或者 to be someone important 或者 worthwhile." On the other hand, one can perceive it as Moana being better than a princess, which can be taken as "Oh, 你 think you're better than the 迪士尼 Princesses, is that right?" 或者 "Yeah, the princess 标题 is just that -- a title. Not all heroines have to be princesses." Well, maybe there's a better message here. Instead of having your character say they're not a princess, why not embrace their princess-ness (or the equivalent -- daughter of a chief would be an equivalent), and then 显示 us that 说 character is a good, strong character? You'd be broadening your own definition of princesses to mean any good-natured, strong-willed female, which is exactly what the DP franchise is trying to do now with their 最近的 视频 and slogan. Then, all of the princesses can be seen in a new and positive light.

Conclusions
Not to be too redundant, but I do believe that Moana's reception here versus on the rest of the internet boils down to what people want and like to see in 迪士尼 heroines, as well as how they interpret certain aspects of the character (or lines of dialogue, as discussed above). I think this is also the reason why 粉丝 can have such opposing 查看 on other characters, like Ariel 或者 Elsa. It can also be why some characters are sometimes seen favorably here, like the early princesses, but not much elsewhere. It all has to do with the specific set of traits we value. Moana's prospective introduction to the lineup brought this...for lack of a better term, "issue," to the spotlight, for me at least. Perhaps discussions like these will change some perceptions of characters for the better, even if just slightly, if people recognize the exact qualities that are being valued 由 other fans.

Hi everybody! In case you're new to the club and/or unfamiliar with these articles, let me explain. This type of 文章 has been done in past 由 a few other users to showcase some of the current 迪士尼 Princess fans. Now obviously there are many other members in this club, besides the ones listed here, but it is pretty much impossible to include everyone for various reasons. But anyway, each person involved is listed according to their 最喜爱的 princess, and there is a short summary of that person, so we can all get to know each other a little bit better.

Before we get started, I do want to...

It's been 4 years since I last made a princess 列表 and I feel that it needs an update. Unlike my earlier duration on 潮流粉丝俱乐部 where I could never keep my 列表 constant, my 列表 has stayed pretty much consistent over time since my original departure. It's difficult for me to make 最喜爱的 princess lists, not because of being so negatively opinionated, but actually because I genuinely like all of the princesses.

First of all, this is an essay I had to do for my Advanced Composition class during the Spring semester, so this is a little bit 更多 formal than how my 文章 usually are.

Disney and Pixar’s movie 《勇敢传说》 is about a Scottish Princess named Merida that wants to be free of her arranged marriage and live her life without the responsibilities that come with being a princess. She and her mother, 皇后乐队 Elinor, don’t see eye to eye because of Merida’s rebellious nature and Elinor preference of the traditional ways. When Merida fails to get her way she ends up buying a spell from a witch (Using...

While 《冰雪奇缘》 comes with great directors and has much consumerism, 魔发奇缘 has amazing visuals, entertaining storyline, great music, wonderful characterization and nice places! Let’s Start!

Back in 2010, 魔发奇缘 was considered to be one of the most beautiful looking animated films ever created. The animators...

Hi guys, now as 你 all know that I previously did for the Princesses' disco part featuring all of the 韩流 songs. Only this time, I will do the English pop songs that we're all familiar with!

1) The Girls of Rock and Roll

Taken from the Chipmunks Adventure film, I can't get this song out of my head! The dance scene will be like America from West Side Story.

2) Everything's Gonna Be Alright

Also taken from Alvin and the 花栗鼠 meet the Wolfman, this song could the 秒 choice after the first one!

 Yes, THESE designs.
Yes, THESE designs.
When it comes to the DP lineup, 粉丝 have come to expect that the merchandise designs of our 最喜爱的 characters aren't always going to match their looks in the movie. Sometimes 你 give the benefit of the doubt, because there may be some difficulty in translating to the new lineup art style, 或者 changes may be done on purpose for marketing reasons. But other times, there is no exception. And for years we have dealt with some shameless representations of these heroines. Let it be said, though; some are fairly close to the 来源 material. Today I'll be counting down which of the above character...

The 迪士尼 Princesses are usually have some beautiful and iconic dresses. In this 文章 I would share my 列表 of 最喜爱的 迪士尼 Princess wardrobes.
I don't include some undergarments, undone dress (ex: Ariel's sail outfit), and some that I don't count as an outfit like Ariel's mermaid attire.

11. Tiana

I didn't mean to say she's ugly, I just think Tiana is the most plain/average in terms of beauty department. She has nice eyes and those eyes are shining in some moments, but most of her other body features are plain and nothing special. Her hair is way too simple with some curls, she got too big nose and thick lip. Her skin was exotic enough as an African-American princess. Her dimples are fine, but at least it makes her...

I actually got this idea from disnerdtobe, who got this idea from anukriti, and I actually want to do the same, since I have a lot of princesses I relate to. That being said, this will be very hard, but keep in mind, these are princesses I myself relate to. It is also set up a little differently than disnerdtobe's

Not Relatable

Making up a majority of this part of the 列表 are Golden Era princesses. I think they were relatable to the girls in their time period which I think is why I personally don't relate to them. That isn't to say that there aren't people who relate to these princesses-...

Well, I managed to be able to see the Broadway 显示 of The Little Mermaid, something I’ve dreamed of experiencing since the moment I heard about the Broadway 显示 years ago. Most of 你 know that Disney’s The Little Mermaid is both my 最喜爱的 迪士尼 movie and one of my 最喜爱的 电影院 of ALL TIME, so this was MAJOR for me! I also was lucky enough to see the original Broadway 显示 on youtube, starring Sierra Boggess as Ariel herself, that 显示 was amazing with many great new songs, capturing the characters I loved so much while giving them a new spin, and clever writing.

However, the show...
