Am I taking this too seriously? (warning: I rant, sorry ;_;)

Alright so, long story short; I'm turning 17 and all my art 动画片 teacher (at the tech institute I go to before my highschool) say I should start putting some serious work into a portfolio. These past 2 months have been dedicated for visual concept ideas for that 说 portfolio. I've been working with designs for a very long time now and proud of the results coming in :)

But here's the problem: I started posting my designs on my 脸谱 for my 老友记 to give feedback, and so far it went great... but then I got a message from a fellow artist-friend. She liked my idea so much, she asked if she could 'go for it' on her own design.
This made me happy and upset -happy 'cause I'm glad my work is inspiring, but upset for I became paranoid she'd tried to take the ideas away from me, 或者 even 显示 others that her concepts are better, 或者 something...

So the 问题 is, should I let her? Would 你 let her, in this situation? This would've have been fine if it was just doodled ideas, 或者 hobby of mine; but this is serious work I plan to 显示 companies for hire, etc. Maybe I'm just paranoid out of my mind? :c

I'm grateful she at least asked first... and I don't want to come off as rude 由 saying no... but I take my work so seriously... and this design/story project was really special to me (sure, it's not COMPLETELY original, but I put good effort to personalities and such...)

Any 答案 would be great. Super sorry for ranting. Hope everyone's weekend ended well, and hope those who read/answered have a WONDERFUL 日 :D

In this instance i think 你 should allow her but ensure she understands to credit 你 for any work she may 'copy'. I think she's only looking for inspiration which is great, it shows your art reaches to people, but 你 must also be very careful. Copyright and 日期 each and every piece 你 make and put warnings on your artwork that copying/stealing will not be tolerated.

I understand 你 have worked very hard on this and 你 don't want to lose everything for one 显示 of kindness so i would keep an eye on what she does if possible. Ask her to 显示 你 the finished work. Take an interest in what she does, as she has taken an interest in yours. Partly to keep an eye on what she's doing to ensure she isn't stealing, but also she may become inspiration to 你 too. 你 may even be able to work on an art project together one day.
Mention to your teacher you've been inspiration to this girl and ask his/her 建议 on what to do. He/she may have 更多 experience in dealing with copyright etc and may be able to guide 你 on the steps to doing it properly.

Good luck :)

Thanks so much ;3; you're answer helped me so much! I let her try it out. I don't have much to worry about anymore because I began dating and publishing my designs a lot quicker to prove that it's my concept (before she even published her works) like I wanted, aha. Just like 你 suggested, I came kindly and felt interested in how she would result her desings. She gladly showed me today and it's 安全 to say that I don't see a threat coming out of her. We're friends, I should have never doubted the trust. So thanks again -your words guided me back to common sense! :D

BabyBlud gives a fantastic answer; I just wanted to add that my daughter is facing a similar issue regarding her photography. As this is not merely a hobby, I think it is important that 你 safeguard your work, and it looks like you've taken steps to do so. Good luck to 你 and all your future work.
