I had the exact same problem, but switched. Just tell him! He's your friend, so he shouldn't get too wierded out. Even if he doesn't like 你 that way, he'll think about it after 你 tell him and then hopefully realize he has some unnoticed feelings for you.
Just take some time, gain up some confidence, and then tell him.
