Ed & Winry aren't your typical canon couple. They actually have depth to them — a sense of realism. I guess I could say I have a soft spot for childhood friends, but they're relationship proves strong due to them knowing each other for a long period of time. They're relationship isn't just romance; it's a true friendship. Moreover, they go through so many tragedies — together. To me, this shipping is about promises.
