Personality: When i was a child, i was very kind, loving towards my parents and older brother and respectful to my fellow clansmen as well as my teachers. I was even very proud of being Itachi's brother and Fugaku's son — famous for being devoted protectors of Konoha, and i desired to emulate them. My original dream was to join the Konoha Military Police Force when he grew up, like his father and as such greatly sought my father's approval and acknowledgement of my abilities. After Itachi massacred the clan, my's ideals and personality changed drastically and i became cold, indifferent, cruel, cynical, arrogant, and devoted the next nine years of my life to kill Itachi.
When first introduced to Team Kakashi, i displayed great indifference to my team-mates as well as others. Feeling superior to all of them, including my teacher, i was unwilling to cooperate with any of my team-mates, as i felt they would provide him no aid in furthering my ambition to kill my brother; this attitude had began since i was in the Academy, as i had the lowest score in cooperation and second lowest in assertiveness. However over time, as he interacted more with his team mates on a day-to-day basis, i began to see them as somewhat of a family and i started to lose some of my hatred, caring more about my team than my revenge. I even admitted to Naruto that i almost thought that i must forget revenge and instead focused on Team 7. However, Orochimaru branded me with the Cursed Seal of Heaven during the Chūnin Exams to help push him back into my desire for vengeance and to give my a taste of power. Although Kakashi Hatake sealed away the Cursed Seal, and taught him the Chidori in the hopes of deviating me from the path of revenge, I began to draw more power from the seal in the hopes of getting stronger. And thus my previous ambition was renewed while causing me to disregard comradeship once again.

According to Kakashi,I has both a superiority and an inferiority complex, as i am unwilling to acknowledge when someone is stronger than me , but obsesses when i believe that they are. For example, i was complacent with my rivalry with Naruto when i believe i was the stronger of the two, but upon noticing Naruto's fast growth, showcased in his victory over Sunagakure's jinchūriki, Gaara, who had previously beate me and his own quick defeat by Itachi on my return to Konoha, all culminated in my defection to Otogakure to seek power from Orochimaru.
