Nearly ten years ago The Saturdays burst on to the pop scene with their debut single, the Yazoo sampling \'If This Is Love\'. That song kicked off a career that saw the band achieve 18 Top 40 hits, including a No. 1 in the shape of the Sean Paul assisted \'What About Us\' (something that probably helped instigate the rapper\'s current renaissance).
While at times it felt that their older sisters Girls Aloud overshadowed The Saturdays, the band knew their way around a mighty pop song. Whether it was the blipping electronics of \'Up\', the incredible rhyming on \'Issues\' or the pulsing \'All Fired Up\', The Sats were never short on an of-the-moment banger.
In 2014, the band released their first, and only, greatest hits,
along with the MNEK and Tove Lo co-written bop \'What Are You Waiting For\'. However, the song was the band\'s lowest charting single to date. Rumours floated around about a possible Christmas album being released that same year, but since that moment The Saturdays have yet to release any new music.
At the time of writing, the official line is that The Saturdays are on the dreaded \'hiatus\'. But two years is a long time, so here\'s exactly what Una, Frankie, Rochelle, Vanessa and Mollie been up to.
Healy, found time for another baby with Rugby playing husband Ben Foden, giving birth to her son, Tadhg John in February 2015.
However, since before joining The Saturdays, Una dreamed of being a credible singer-songwriter. In fact in 2006 Una released a self-produced EP called
, featuring songs such as \'So Long\', \'I Love You\' and the worryingly titled \'Raider of My Sleep\'.
While The Sats weren\'t known for their serious-faced songwriting prowess, that hasn\'t stopped Una from pursuing her dream. In 2015, she joined
, taking a spot in one of the big red chairs as a coach. However, on this year\'s series of the show, Una unleashed the first song from her upcoming solo album. Called \'Staring At The Moon\', the track is a folk-influenced ditty dedicated to her daughter Aoife.
, Una confirmed that she\'d inked a deal with Universal Music in the UK for an album. "Every song in the album is very personal to me and I wrote from the heart so I can\'t wait to share it with everyone," Una said of the collection. "I really enjoyed it and I loved making it so if people enjoy listening to it as much, then I\'ll be very happy."
With the album due to come out this year, it\'s an exciting time to be Una Healy right now.
It\'s hard to believe that little Francesca from S Club 8 and then The Saturdays could be a mother of two, but here we are. Following the band\'s hiatus, Frankie and her husband Wayne Bridge welcomed their second son in August 2015. The previous year, Frankie took part in
but due to being heavily pregnant she had to pull out of the show\'s UK tour. Luckily, Frankie was able to take part in this year\'s tour, so it all worked out in the end.
Apart from touring the country dancing, Frankie has kept fairly quiet, appearing on
. She\'s also posed with Thomas the Tank Engine (and her eldest son) as part of #TeamThomas, a campaign to help spread the word of the little blue engine as well as "celebrating friendship, teamwork, determination and racing". More recently, Frankie teased on Instagram that she\'d been shooting something with celebrity photographer Joseph Sinclair for Thomas Sabo\'s TapShop.
Rochelle has been the busiest since 2014. After finding her feet on the BBC Three panel show
, Rochelle and her husband, former JLSer Marvin, joined
Since then, Rochelle\'s presenting career has gone from strength to strength, as she helped Terry Wogan co-host
in 2014 and 2015, as well as a one-off BBC special dedicated to Frank Sinatra. Rochelle\'s presenting reached fever pitch when she landed the role of co-host of ITV\'s ludicrously entertaining show
She also landed the seemingly cursed role of
presenting alongside former co-star Melvin Odoom. It\'s unclear whether Rochelle has lifted the curse and made it to another series. Speaking to the
, Rochelle said: "Me and Melvin had a ball doing it but I\'m not sure what\'s gonna happen. But I got booked literally two weeks before I started filming last year, so it\'s not normal to know."
Fear not, fans of Saturday-night entertainment, as Rochelle is due to co-host the upcoming ITV realty show
, which will see the world\'s best magicians competing to be crowned, well, the next great magician.
As the youngest member of The Saturdays, Vanessa was always the most boisterous member of the band and the first Saturday to go it alone.
While Una went folky and Mollie\'s rumoured solo career sounds distinctly pop, Vanessa decided that Nu-R&B was for her. Her debut solo song, \'Relationship Goals\', was produced by rising talent Chloe Martini, and was a taster to a different side of the 26-year-old singer. Gone were the powerful synths, instead replaced with slinky guitars, finger-clicks and sultry vocals.
, which included the single \'Nostalgia\' and \'Don\'t Wanna Be Your Love\', as well as a vibe-y duet with Wretch 32 titled \'Lipstick Kisses\' *blushes*. Allegedly, Vanessa has also been working with Craig David\'s collaborator, Tre Jean-Marie, as well as popular electronic duo Snakehips, and in an interview with
, the singer confirmed that there would indeed be a
and hopefully an album to follow. "It\'s hard to say," she said. "I\'m taking one step at a time."
More recently, Vanessa performed her first solo gig at London\'s Cargo, which saw her bandmates head down to support their girl.
Like Vanessa, Mollie has been hard at work on her own solo material, signing to Island Records – the home of Will Young, Leona Lewis, Florence + The Machine and Ariana Grande – in 2015.
As we reported recently, Mollie appears to have co-written most of the material set to appear on her debut album, which she told us was due later this year. Rumoured song titles include \'Big Power\', \'Dance With The Devil\' and \'Waiting On The Wind\'. Make of that what you will.
It was also reported that Mollie had been in the studio with former Girls Aloud star, Nicola Roberts, and according to one fan site Mollie\'s debut single is titled \'Reckless Heart\' and was co-written by Steve Anderson, known for his work with Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears.
This is all, potentially, very exciting. Imagine if the Mollie King album is as good as the second Rachel Stevens one…
