I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Hunger Games: Mockingjay Is Most Highly Anticipated of 2015! | moviepilot.com
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Films, Comics, Video Games, Books. “I dream. Sometimes I think that\'s the only right thing to do."
It\'s been a couple weeks now since tickets for the final instalment in the
The Hunger Games franchise: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 went on sale, but did you know there\'s a way for super fans to see the highly anticipated film before anyone else?
Despite the fact that Mockingjay Part 2 will release officially on November 19th 2015 at 7:00pm, die-hard fans were given the chance to witness the new film 24-hours before everyone else, on the 18th November. How, you ask? By getting their hands on tickets for the The Mockingjay Double Feature, screening across America on Wednesday the 18th. And there\'s still tickets available for select cinemas in case you missed that.
Lionsgate has actually been pretty clever with the way they\'re marketed The Hunger Games franchise thus far, taking pointers from various successful business models such as splitting the finale into a two-parter (as seen in the Harry Potter and The Twilight Saga franchises).
The double feature screening recalls the impressive tactic used by Marvel Studios in the run up to the release of
The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, where they ran eleven (!) movies back to back. This was described as "Earth\'s Mightiest Movie Marathon" and comprised of all the Marvel Cinematic Universe films released up to that point before cumulating in Age of Ultron, screening a few hours before the rest of America. (In case you\'re wondering, the marathon lasted more than 24-hours. Now that\'s dedication.)
Whilst this is obviously a means to boost their overall profit, particularly the double feature finale, it\'s also a great way to expand and capitalise upon the fanbase, giving fans more to sink their teeth into. The double feature will reportedly also feature exclusive content and giveaways contests as well as giving fans the opportunity to see it 24-hours before everybody else.
Lionsgate\'s marketing campaign certainly seems to be working for them, if the audience anticipation polls are anything to go by. In fact Mockingjay - Part 2 scored even higher than the massively anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens and topped the Piedmont Media Research poll as the most anticipated film they\'ve EVER recorded data for. Now that\'s impressive. This sentiment was echoed by Joshua Lynn, president of PMR: "Those are huge numbers. Every demographic is showing up for this."
Lionsgate also announced earlier this year that
not be released in 3D in theatres in America, opting for a 2D and IMAX 2D release only. On the other side of the coin however it appears that the rest of the world will get a wider format release, with Mockingjay - Part 2 going out internationally in 2D, 3D, IMAX 3D and RealD Cinema.
The reason cited for doing so is in order to maintain franchise consistency, as none of Mockingjay - Part 2\'s predecessors were released widely in 3D. It\'s hardly likely to be a huge loss for the franchise though, given that Hunger Games fans don\'t seem to seek out the 3D release in the same way that other franchises may. It\'s not the kind of series that has to rely on 3D, unlike other heavily edited, fantastical series the likes of Marvel and DC.
Finally, the latest trailer dropped on the internet at the beginning of the month, and it\'s a doozy (especially if you know how the books end). Check it out below.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Jena Malone, Elisabeth Banks and directed by Francis Lawrence, will release worldwide on November 20th, 2015.
