Nature trail inspired by Chronicles of Narnia novels is unveiled
The trail, part of a newly-created nature reserve, features wood carvings encouraging children and families to "enjoy the great outdoors"

A nature trail inspired by the classic Chronicles of Narnia fantasy novel series will be unveiled in Banstead on Thursday (June 22).
The trail will be officially opened at 11am at the newly-created Banstead Woods and Chipstead Downs Nature Reserve.
It features statues of characters from the most well-known instalment in the series,
, carved by chainsaw from the site’s natural deadwood.
Visitors can get up close to figures of Aslan the Lion and Lucy Pevensie, and even walk through an enchanted wardrobe as Lucy did to enter the magical land of Narnia.
The chainsaw carvings have been created by The Tree Pirates and endorsed by the estate of late Chronicles of Narnia author C S Lewis.
They were installed by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council’s (RBBC) greenspace team.
Pupils from Banstead Primary School will be the first to enjoy the Narnia-themed trail after it is opened by the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead, Councillor Roger Newstead.

Andy Keay, of Woodmansterne and Chipstead Conservation Volunteers, will be at the unveiling to talk to visitors about the site’s rare habitats.
A spokesman for RBBC said: “This is all part of our work to encourage more people, particularly children and families, to enjoy the great outdoors on their doorstep through widening the site’s current appeal.
Leith Hill eviction: Protesters hiding in tunnels are \'putting their lives at risk\', security firm warns
“This event also marks the site’s designation as a local nature reserve, the first in the borough for 15 years.
“The designation recognises its rare and important chalk grassland and ancient woodland habitats and species, which are in significant decline nationally.”
