I poured myself one last glass and then that was it. The liquor was going to be gone soon and then there would be nothing 更多 to stand between me and my decision. I lifted the glass up to my eyes and stared at the content. This small glass of whiskey was the only thing keeping me human, which was funny in a way because alcohol usually turns people into animals, figuratively speaking.
I had promised myself that when the bottle was done I was going to say yes. I was going to let Michael in.
I let out a sigh and put the glass down on the 表 again. My eyes scanned the room and took it all in. The ugly green color of the walls, the little 台, 办公桌 in front of the mirror, the two beds with those hideous bedspreads and the only thing I had contributed with, a dent on the bedspreads where my cardboard box had been. A cardboard box, where my most valuable and important things lay; my 最喜爱的 leather jacket, my 最喜爱的 gun, the keys to my baby and something not that valuable but important nonetheless; a letter telling everyone I loved goodbye. It was now on its way to Sioux Falls in South Dakota.
I wondered what Bobby would say about me giving up. How he’d react when he found out that Michael jumped my bones. He’d be furious and use the word “Idjit” 更多 times than anyone can count.
Cas would probably stand quietly in a corner, 或者 he’d just vanish into thin air as usual. 或者 maybe he’d surprise me. When I thought of it, I had no idea how Castiel would react especially after seeing him drunk. That was something I’d never thought I would see, it was like the eighth wonder of the world, a drunken angel.
And Sam… I pushed the thought away. If I started imagining Sam’s reaction I’d end up backing out and going straight to South Dakota to assure him that everything was okay, that we’d find another way, but I’d be lying. I knew there was no other way and I hoped eventually he’d see it to. I just hoped that he wouldn’t do anything stupid in the meantime.
My gaze travelled back to the glass in front of me.
“Screw it”, I 说 aloud and then I emptied it.
I heard the swooshing sound of wings behind me and then a voice that said: “Hello Dean. It’s nice to see 你 again so soon.” I spun around and found myself face to face with… my brother. Well, half-brother is the correct term.
“Adam?” Even though I knew it wasn’t I had to ask.
“Dean, I thought 你 were smarter than that. 你 just called me here. I think 你 wanted to answer a 问题 of mine”, came Michael’s words from Adams mouth.
“How… What…” I couldn’t form a sentence. This was too much to progress. I took a deep breath and tried again. “Why are 你 possessing Adam? How can 你 even possess Adam?”
“Like I 说 the last time we met, it runs in your fathers’ blood, your blood and also in Adams’. But you’re my true vessel, Dean.”
“What is this? A ‘Ride as many Winchesters 你 can’ competition? 你 know my car’s in Cicero if 你 want to take it out for a test-drive to!”
“I resurrected him…”
“Yeah, I can see that!” I was losing my temper. Not only did he possess my half-brother, he was also 展示 me what I would be like when I 说 yes. Michael sighed and shook his head.
“I resurrected him so that I could talk to you. Since 你 clearly don’t speak Enochian I thought it would be 更多 polite to talk to 你 in this form.”
“Wow, thanks for caring! What the hell do 你 wanna talk about except 你 wearing my meatsuit?”
“I figured 你 wanted to assure some people’s safety first? 或者 am I wrong?” I was stunned. This was not what I had expected from the archangel. Maybe he wasn’t so bad after all, but that didn’t really change anything.
“No, of course I have conditions. Lisa and her son Ben, they live in…”
“I know who they are Dean. There will be someone to watch over them. Anyone else?”
“Bobby, 你 give him his legs back.” I hoped that would make up for saying yes, if he got his legs back maybe he would be a little happier.
Michael snapped his fingers. “Done”, he said.
“I don’t want anything to happen to Cas. I know he’s rebelled and all but…” Michael held up a hand to stop me.
“When we’ve won the APB will be gone”, he assured me. This 天使 certainly knew which century he was in.
“Great. I also want 你 to look after Sam and…”
“No, sorry”, Michael interrupted me. I blinked.
“What the hell do 你 mean 由 that?”
“I mean that I’m not doing anything for Sam”, he told me matter-of-factly. I couldn’t believe this dude. The guy was a douche!
“And why the hell not?” was all I could ask.
“Would 你 stop swearing? It’s not good for you.” If looks could kill he would already be on the floor in a pile of ash made of holy oil and fried archangel.
“Why can’t 你 do anything for Sam?” I asked through clenched teeth. Michael looked into my eyes and held my gaze.
“Because your brother is not your brother anymore. He 说 yes to Lucifer.” I felt nauseous and black spots started dancing in front of my eyes. When the world started tilting I sat down on one of the beds. Michael had started talking again but I couldn’t make out the words. My ears were ringing and it felt as if I was going to puke at any minute. I just couldn’t understand why he would have done it. I had only been gone for about a day. What could possibly have happened in twelve? Maybe he’d 给 up, just as I had? There was no way of knowing. The ringing in my ears decreased and I could hear what Michael was saying again.
“…matter? It has to be done. I am also killing my brother, so we’re in the same 船, 小船 你 and I.”
“No, I won’t do it. 你 can go back to heaven and tell your brothers that 你 迷失 because I am not killing my brother!”
When Michael spoke again his voice had a hint of anger in it his eyes had gone dark.
“If 你 say no to me I won’t return to heaven Dean. Even though 你 are my true vessel I think I’ll manage to go up against Lucifer using this body. I’m just bummed that I won’t win the ‘Ride a Winchester competition’.” The smile that spread across his face was cunning. I wanted to 拍击, smack, 味道 it from his face.
由 choosing Adam as his vessel he had made a backup plan. He knew that I wouldn’t let someone else take the hit for me, especially family. There was no way out of this and I knew what I had to do. Michael saw the answer in my eyes and gave me a brilliant smile.

I glanced at the clock on the bedside table. It showed 11: 47.
11:47 was the last time I was Dean Winchester.
It was the last time Dean Winchester was human.
“Yes.”
