Do 你 sing to express your emotions?

I know I do. To cut a long story short I have a complicated past with a lot of anger and resentment. Last night there was an incident that brought up some of these hurtful feelings and I needed a release so I got out my mp3 player, plugged it into my speaker and belted out a very angry rendition of Don't rain on my parade. It really got me thinking about why I sing and how my feelings really affect how I sing.

I just wanted to hear some other singers thoughts on this topic.
