Does it make sense to idolize a fictional character?

Because I don't think it does. I mean, adoring a celebrity is one thing, but a fictional character? That's a little weird. What do 你 think?

I don't see how it would be any weirder than idolizing a celebrity. Either way, it's putting someone 你 don't know personally- and will never know personally- on a pedestal of greatness, whether it be through means of a crush, having respect for 说 character/actor's personalities, 或者 otherwise.

Often times fictional characters can serve as role 模特 and there's plenty of fictional characters with traits to be admired.

One of the uses for story telling is to send a moral message to the audience, and this has been a major use of story telling and character 设计 throughout history.

Many oral traditions were passed down almost entirely to teach what sort of behaviors were admired in society and what ones weren't- 你 were supposed to admire certain characters and want to be 更多 like them.

There are several Grecian epics that serve this purpose, and morality plays are a prime example.

But that's only a few- literally any culture will have stories and characters that serve this purpose, where we're supposed to admire and idolize the hero character.

Besides, it seems to me that 名人 may as well be fictional characters even if they exist, at least in this regard. Most people who admire 名人 won't get to know them any better personally than anyone gets to know fictional characters and the chances of getting to spend time with a celebrity is just as slim for most as it is to spend time with a fictional character.

It might even be easier to understand a fictional character than some celebrities, since so many 名人 live both a public life and a private life. I'm sure there's a lot of 名人 out there that people admire that the public doesn't really know that much about because they're secretive. They could be a totally different person in real life than their public image would suggest, and I'm certain that there's 名人 out there that loads of people admire that are actually unbelievably shitty people behind the scenes.

Even if fictional characters aren't real, we're exposed to their stories and they can't really hide anything because of that. Fictional characters can't keep secrets from the audience unless the 作者 has intentionally set it up that way. We see everything they do within the story, so we grow to understand them as people pretty well even if they're fictional.

或者 am I getting a little too metaphysical here?

TL;DR VERSION It makes complete sense, bruh. Humans have been doing it for millennium now. Plus the public lives of many 名人 may be even 更多 fictional than fictional characters themselves.

I don't have a problem with people loving fictional characters. I have some I really like too. I just don't see any reason to IDOLIZE them.

Yes it makes total sense to me. It ain't weird at all. I 爱情 me some fictional characters.

I mean sure they ain't real but if they're written well fictional characters can be very life like. And because of that it makes it easy to idolize them. If the character is written well enough it's normal to relate to them (in fact that's a criteria to make a good character) and be inspired 由 them.
I guess I don't see the difference between obsessing over characters and over anything else. I've also actually heard that there is a psychology to it as well and a persons ability to get attached to a character is connects to the part of the brain that controls sympathy. The 更多 sympathetic to real people one is, the 更多 likely they are to attach to characters. (I'll find link to the 文章 later).

I mean what's wrong with people idolizing fictional characters? There's no harm in it.

Eh, it's not really weird to me.
If it was, then idolizing another person isn't something I'd consider 'normal' either. But then again, the line that draws between 'normal' and 'weird' is pretty vague so I'm gonna go with it making some sense since a lot of people don't seem to see it as that big of a deal nowadays.

Honestly I see no difference between a fictional character and a celebrity. ESPECIALLY if the fictional character is in a 显示 where there are actors rather than animation.

Like... whats the difference?

Will 你 ever really meet and get to know them?
But 你 could know a lot abotu a celebrity
So can 你 about a lot of characters. Sure 你 can meet the celebrity but whats the likeliness youll ever meet them again 或者 have them part of your life?

Can they teach 你 things?

Can they be inspirational?

Can 你 adore them?

Can 你 agree and disagree with their actions?

So what differentiates a celebrity from a fictional character? That one is written and ones not?

Well sure, but that only adds to the idea as to why a fictional character should be idolized. They are fictional and usually the epitome of certain traits, exaggerations that rarely occur in real life. Therefore they are already 展示 更多 than a real person could usually.

Also, if one is gonna say that they are real, they are fake. A lot of 名人 and idols dont share everything publicly and they may butcher 或者 not say thigns to keep up a certain image. 你 may know a lot about them, but 你 dont know all of them and 由 the lack of knowledge, they probably arent that much better tbh. Also 你 probably also idolize them and see them in a light where 你 are biased towards their actions and excuse it.

Like honestly I dont see much of a difference between any of it. Both a fictional character and a celebrity are people that probably wont ever be directly part of your life and are both things that can teach and inspire. So whats the big deal if one is written and made up and one is sorta real?

If they provide something for 你 they provide something.
