Can someone who is good at math explain how to do elimination and substitution to me?

Math is the only thing in school i have difficulty in. I'm going to be a senior 下一个 年 and i still have not gotten into geometry because i keep failing algebra. I am in summer school and have a test on Monday on elimination and substitution. If i fail it i won't get the credit and might not graduate high school. Can someone explain it to me in a way that makes sense?

like for example take two equations
x+2y-10=0 #equation 1
2x+3y-8=0 #equation 2
multiply the first equation 由 2 (2x+4y-20=0) to eliminate x.
then subtract equation 1 with equation 2 你 get: y-12=0
so y=12

substitution is rearranging an equation and subbing it into the second
(using the equation 1 from before)
x+2y-10=0
Rearrange to isolate x (or y, it doesnt matter):
x=-2y+10
sub it into the 秒 equation:
2(-2y+10)+3y-8=0
then solve:
-4y+20+3y-8=0
y=12
