Can I ask this?

Maybe because everyone has a different taste in books.

One word. Escapism.

Maybe it's because nonfiction 图书 are written about what Has happened and what Does exist. People read fiction because it is a gateway into a 幻想 world were no one is bound 由 the confines of reality. After being awake 12 hours a 日 for years, people could tire of everyday life and wish to escape it somehow.

because with story 图书 你 can escape from your own life for sometime , I guess ^^

Because people can usally seek for 图书 that could take them for a adventure full of thrill 或者 sorrow. The adventure can be in 图书 to if 你 decide to escape to a magnifacent world. People have different taste like; Drama, Mournful, Happy, Historical and many others and yes "How to a success in life." But I still believe that only 你 can find the road of adventure to pass.

Well.... most people prefer 阅读 图书 that can take them away to non-existing places, just for the fun if it!
图书 like that contain adventurous experiences, fun, suspense, (sometimes) horror and more!
yes a lot of people do read non-fiction books, and they usually contain pretty interesting facts, but they are not as amusing (in the sense of liking suspense and adventure 或者 just plain fantasy).

Because I find nonfiction boring.

People read to gain knowledge, better themselves, 或者 for enjoyment.
Sometimes we need an escape from real life. It helps our minds refresh and reboot.

People tend to prefer certain genres of 图书 over others depending on their interests at the time.

Fictional stories also provide an escape, and often help someone forget about what has been happening in their waking life.
