After the guy vote for your pokemon, then good luck for the primary judging, when the contestants appeal moves.
A scarf* could be necessary.
I've done this a few times and it works.
*scarf: go to Slateport, to the 粉丝 club and talk to the old man. There are five 颜色 of scarf, red, blue, green, yellow, and pink.

Funny Story:
So the other 日 I found a small stuffed 皮卡丘 in my house. It was so adorable and I just couldn't resist those eyes... Natuarally, I had him 由 my side every 秒 of the day, I did grow quite attached!
