"Outlander" is over for the season, but the story of Claire and Jamie Fraser will continue -- in France.
"It's a whole new tale," Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore told
of Season 2, which is currently in production. "It's like we've been prepping and now shooting a whole new series. The show has left Scotland, it's now in Paris. It's urban, it's aristocracy, it's the court of Louis the XIV, and it's Prince Charlie and it's just like, 'Woah, it's a completely different look and feel to year one,' and I think that's kind of exciting as a showrunner."
Moore said bringing to life the story for Season 2 (based on Diana Gabaldon's "Dragonfly in Amber") is a different challenge than one facing a typical TV series, because it moves on to such a different world.

"You don't typically reinvent the show every single season, and that's what these books do because the story just keeps moving forward," he said.
"It's exciting to do that because that's not what TV's all about. TV is usually about repetition and about staying in the same place and telling a new story in the hospital next year, or on the bridge of the Enterprise next year, or in the police station next year, but this show just keeps moving forward and I think that's really interesting," he added.

when we interviewed him (we spoke to the showrunner near the end of May), that two roles fans have been waiting for word on, are not yet filled.
"I know that the two cast members everybody asks about – Brianna and Roger – have not been cast," he said. "And there's no hurry on it because the way we shoot these things obviously is out of sequence and we shoot them according to the needs of production and air date. … People are like, 'Haven’t you cast those?' And it's like, 'Well, no, but don't worry about it.'"
Asked which character he is most looking forward to fans meeting in the second season of "Outlander" on Starz, Moore said he's looking forward to introducing a royal.
"I think it'll be fun to meet Bonnie Prince Charlie. It'll be fun to meet sort of you know, an actual historical figure on the show," he said.

But don't expect to see Moore himself in the drama again (he made an appearance in the show's first season in the background of a scene at Castle Leoch).
"No, I think I've done my cameo. I try to restrict it to one per series," he laughed.
Until he sees the costumes his wife, "Outlander" Costume Designer Terry Dresbach, comes up with?
"Oh, I've seen the attire, it's fantastic, but it's one thing to look at and admire it. It's another to have to wear it on set for hours at a time," he said.
