There\'s a certain process to falling in love with a One Direction album, and with the new release of
. hitting both the airwaves and your emotions with equal force, we\'ve decided to chart the stages of losing your heart to it.
You devour all the pre-released tracks as the hours tick ever closer to launch day. A strange sensation suddenly washes over you; it\'s as if your future self is looking back on you right now, through a memory, marvelling at the archaic time before the existence of
in the same way people think of aerial TV\'s, fire torches and CD players today.
00:00 hours have struck. A surge of adrenaline courses through your body. You\'re distantly aware a notification will pop up on your phone authorising you to finally download the album, but you panic at the thought, feeling unready, unprepared. The day has arrived too suddenly and yet too slowly all at once, as though the vortex of time has somehow skewed in the last few months.
The room is silent as your heart pounds silently in your chest. After 5 minutes of self-reflection a notification pops up.

IT\'S HERE. DEAR GOD, IT\'S ACTUALLY HERE. IT\'S FINALLY HERE. This is happening. IT\'S HAPPENING. It\'s as if your veins are about to burst open, like every atom in your body has been plugged into an electric source and is vibrating at 4423739 volts. You\'re fairly certain that your brain is vibrating in your skull, and that your blood is racing around your system like a Jack Russell on the sugar rush from hell.
The world stills. Suddenly and strangely calm, you begin listening to the album. The melodies seep into your ears like thick honey dripping down a slice of toast. With each track your heart thuds in your eardrums, and you frantically try to pick up the lyrics, memorising the beat, the rhythm - trying to catch each moment in your hands before they slip through your fingers and the next song begins.
You have the sudden urge to run through the streets naked. You could tie a silk scarf around your neck and ride in a convertible through the streets of Milan, your heart thumping along with the beat in \'What A Feeling\'. You could shoot for the stars, feel the cold breeze on your skin, feel your spirits life and your courage sour. You could do ANYTHING. Anything at all.
You finally, slowly, feel your blood pressure lowering, and your heart rate stabilising. There\'s a detached part of you that can objectively admire the compositions, the melodies, the production, the vocal riffs, and the stacatto beats, but you\'re not thinking about any of that now. You are steady, balanced, but lighter than you\'ve ever been in your entire life.
Millions of people around the world are listening to this very same album, but it still feels like a secret gem that belongs exclusively to you. A wave of calm spreads through your body. The album is perfect. But even so, you know that you don\'t appreciate it half as much as you will by next week. All you know is that the songs are already carefully entwining themselves around your heart, and that life from here on will never be the same again.
