So what's the deal with the Stitch 日本动漫 series?

Is it canon to the original films and series 或者 not? I keep hearing that it's not and I also keep hearing it is. I know it's taken place many years after the Lilo and Stitch stories but from what I heard, the 日本动漫 series is basically copying what happened in the original story where Stitch escapes from Jumba's experiment so does that mean Jumba reverted back to evil? Also apparently Gantu turned good in the original story but he's evil in the 日本动漫 series so does that mean he reverted too? I'm so confused.
