When it comes to describing characters, there are usually a number of defining character traits which really make them who they are. For Monkey D. Luffy, it's his stretchy body and appetite of a starving child. For Frieza, genocide. In the case of Gintoki it pretty much sums itself up into a 列表 of horrible addictions and bad habits, but nobody's perfect. As a matter of fact, one could say that it's Gintoki's imperfections that make him so lovable. He's not god-like 或者 overly glorified in any way which makes him seem 更多 human than most super cool protagonists. (Well, MOST OF THE TIME, anyway.)...

Super 超能英雄 usually have a lot on their plate: anything from saving damsels in distress to keeping the entire world from burning down at the hands of a menace. Granted, Gintoki is no super hero, there are still things a man's gotta protect. Unfortunately for Gin-san, one of those things seems to be his baby-maker. 你 know, that. If 你 weren't already aware, the 标题 "Gintama" carries a hilarious and most likely intentional double-meaning. The Japanese word "tama" has two meanings. Depending on the kanji, it can either be read as "soul" 或者 "balls". Which means, yes, when 说 out loud, Gintama...

If 《银魂》 has taught us anyhting, it's that nothing spouts truth like the cold hard facts of a character popularity poll, and if popularity 民意调查 have anything to say about women's horrible taste in men, then Gintoki is a testament to that. Turns out guys, 你 really don't have to work that hard to impress the ladies. Just be a jobless, naturally-permed, nose-picking freeloader, because according to RECOCHOKU'S ANNUAL POLL, our beloved Gin-san is the #1 日本动漫 character girls want to marry (knocking that equally unworthy asshole Hibari from his #1 spot from 2 years ago, what now Hibari, WHAT...

The concept of a family is something Gintoki admits he isn't familiar with in the "conventional" sense of the term. As far as we've heard in the series so far, Gintoki claims to never have had one, so the closest thing he considers as his family are the residents and workers at Otose's Snack Shop. That being said, Gintoki still seems to understand the importance and value of bonds between family members better than anyone, and is thus willing to take up his sword if it means protecting the idea of a family: whatever that word may mean.

I wish I had one... a family like yours. Ironic, ain't it?...

If there's one rule 你 can count on 《银魂》 to follow, it's to "fuck the rules" completely. Not unlike the series itself, Gintoki lives 由 his own code and nobody else's, choosing his own ways of going about life, work and disgusting eating habits without a 秒 thought about what anyone else thinks. He's the kind of guy that will fly down the road at a billion miles per 小时 without a helmet, and refuse to listen to a cop who tells him he needs one, even if it's for his own safety. Even during his youth Gintoki appeared as the rebellious type--sleeping through his teacher's classes 或者 disregarding...

"You are what 你 eat". If it's true what they say, then Gintoki is definitely made up of sugar, spice and everything absolutely fattening nice. But mostly sugar. Gintoki's addiction to all things sweet is something that's canon from the very beginning of the manga: his first appearance happens simply because his beloved 冻糕, 冷甜饼 is knocked over 由 an Amanto (who grows angry at Shinpachi, a worker there) at the cafe he's eating at. Though his actions appear noble--as if he's trying to help out the young four eyes--he's simply in it to get revenge for the life of his parfait. It seems pretty...

Though most people will recognize Gintoki 由 his silly perm and disgusting nose-picking habits, behind his nonchalant and seemingly lazy attitude lies a darker, unknown past that has yet to be spoken of in depth. Much of what we currently know about where Gintoki came from has been displayed in short, 2-3 分钟 flashbacks, mentions from characters who have known him long before the series started, 或者 in spoof trailers made 由 the trolls at Sunrise which tease 粉丝 with titles like The Birth of Shiroyasha. Gintoki's story is being pieced together at a snail's pace, but I think that part of...

Undoubtedly one of the most influential people in Gintoki's life, 或者 perhaps the one person who "gave him" the opportunity at life at all, Yoshida Shouyou plays an important, yet mysterious role in Gintama. He is one of the main keys to Gintoki's past outside of his FORMER COMRADES and took Gintoki under his wing at an early age to train him in both swordsmanship and the bushido.

One of the earliest scenes of young Gintoki feature him sitting amongst a pile of corpses and blood in the aftermath of a battlefield. Yoshida Shouyou went to seek out Gintoki in this area and upon finding him, tells...

Band leader MOMIKEN made a 评论 on the new song:

"From now on, 你 will 摇摆, 秋千 that sword to protect your very soul." -- These are words that Gintoki has carried with him since he was merely a boy receiving his teacher's very own katana. They're words that he very much lives by. Gintoki operates on his own rules and fights in order to protect his spirit and soul--and is always willing to do so for others whose ideals align with his own. The idea of the "soul" is probably one of the main, overaching themes of Gintama--I mean, it's in the damn title. It may be hard to see between all the poop jokes, 马赛克 censors, and blow up sex toys, but...

The ties that Gintoki has to his former life as Shiroyasha live on mainly through his connections with his three former Joui War veteran comrades: Takasugi Shinsuke, Katsura Kotarou, and Sakamoto Tatsuma. The four of them together were members of the old Jouishishi, a faction of samurai rebels who were fighting to expel the foreign Amanto aliens. Though the war began about 20 years prior to Gintama, the Joui 4 were mostly involved in the later part of the resistance. Gintoki, Takasugi and Katsura have all known each other since their youth--as young boys they trained under the tutelage of Yoshida...

Above Otose's Snack 商店 lies the Yorozuya, Gintoki's headquarters of operation (that he's totally not paying rent for, 由 the way). Yorozuya (万事屋) literally translates to "house of 10,000 businesses". In other words, the Yorozuya is the place where Gintoki offers up odd jobs to anyone who needs it. This can be anything as simple as capturing the village panty thief, to stopping terrorists from blowing up the country. Gintoki runs the business alongside his two younger companions, Shinpachi and Kagura, as well as their mascot and giant pet dog, Sadaharu. To say that the three of them...

Terada Ayano, better known as Otose, is Gintoki's "landlord", 或者 rather the old lady who lets Gintoki and company shack up at the 最佳, 返回页首 of her snack shop. She's best recognized as that creepy baba who demands rent from Gintoki every hundred episodes (or whenever he pisses her off) and occasionally complains about the Yorozuya's incessant screaming and trouble-making. Otose is often referred to 由 our silver samurai as that shitty old woman, if that clues 你 in on the way in which Gintoki shows respect for his elders. For the most part the relationship between landlord and tennant is comical...

Every JUMP hero needs a rival. A Vegeta to their Goku. 你 know, that guy in your life that's not quite Frieza, but not quite Krillin. Some people like to refer to them as frenemies, others OTP, but that kind of deviates into a darker corner of fandom that we won't go into (just yet). For Gintoki, his "Vegeta" comes in the form of a mayonnaise huffing, straight-laced police officer named Hijikata Toshirou: his exact opposite yet identical twin all at the same time: the best kind of rival.

Gintoki and Hijikata are the classic comedic rivalry. They're both so alike that it almost hurts to watch...

When one normally thinks of Jump series they think of 300-chapter-long epic battles with seemingly invincible enemies that have four different forms, 或者 entire spreads dedicated to the hero powering up. After all, there isn't anything manlier than the guts and glory of finally slaying the Big Bad. Though 《银魂》 is pretty much 95% nonsense, 由 no means is it void of this Shounen Jump staple: Gintoki can certainly rip the enemy a new one when need be. What's interesting about Gintoki as a shounen 日本漫画 hero, however, is how often he chooses not to. Though I certainly wouldn't call Gintoki a...

With Gintama: The Movie: The Final Chapter: Be Forever Yorozuya slated to debut in Japanese theaters July 6th, a new visual shows older versions of sidekicks Kagura and Shinpachi against what looks like a post apocalyptic version of the series' alien-invaded Tokyo.

Japanese 粉丝 are detecting a bit of a Sword Art Online spoof in the new designs.

给 Gintama's habit of trolling fans, it remains to be seen how indicative this may be of what's actually happening in the movie.
