Comparing the Walker Horde From The Walking Dead Premiere to the Wight Horde From “Hardhome”

I remember visiting this website once...
It was called The Walking Dead's walkers vs Game of Thrones' wights
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
entered its sixth season this past Sunday night, and the episode was centered around the largest herd of walkers the show has ever seen. The size of the undead herd inspired at least one critic to
draw comparisons to “Hardhome,” the episode from this past season of
was created by Robert Kirkman and started out as a comic book/graphic novel before being adapted for television by AMC. In Kirkman’s world, the human race doesn’t know what to call the undead, so descriptors like walkers, or biters, or even moaners are used…but they are
When walkers begin to congregate, for whatever reason, they usually form huge horde-like groups called herds. Throughout
‘s six season (and counting) run, there have been many differing types and sizes of herds, from herds that overrun farms and swarm the countryside, eating everyone and everything in their undead path, to herds that pile up against prison fences until the supports give way and all hell breaks loose. As the undead go, herds of walkers are about as terrifying as it gets, which is why the Season 6 premiere of
drew so much attention, as it involved a massive group of them being directed somewhere they could be easily killed, or at least not trouble anyone.
According to Greg Nicotero, the show’s producer/walker creator, the Season 6 premiere used more walkers than ever before. He told
that more than 1,000 people were in walker makeup for the episode’s big payoff, in which a giant chunk of the herd starts shambling toward a human settlement after escaping their rock quarry holding area. Here’s what the rock quarry full of the undead looks like at the top of the episode.
If you look at that and think of the huddled masses from “Hardhome,” you may not be alone. We’ve talked before…exhaustively, in fact…about how
Season 5, Episode 8, “Hardhome” was the best episode of the season, if not the entire series to date.
Not that I need to remind you, but in “Hardhome,” Jon Snow and a few men of the Night’s Watch, along with Tormund Giantsbane and a select few wildlings, travel to the village o Hardhome by the Shivering Sea. After some negotiations with the wildlings stationed there, Jon and Tormund convince most of them to get on boats and return to Castle Black and to safety…and then this happens.
The Night’s King descends upon Hardhome and proceeds to massacre the unprotected wildlings, making his own herd of undead in the process. The major difference between

is a fantastic show, and the Season 6 premiere was amazing in scope, size, and number of walkers used, but
wins this battle of the undead, hands down…just ask Karsi.

If I had to choose, I’d happily face 1000 TWD walkers over 1 Wight. The wights in GoT are a whole lot more like the nightmares in 28 Days Later.
Exaxtly. I don’t believe the threat in twd. I believe it in game
Norman Reedus (Daryl from TWD) should play young Ned in GoT S6.
Yeah, he’s ten years younger than Sean bean…that’s perfect!
I literally watched that episode earlier, i have given up on TWD it’s just a pile of shite now, the CGI was awful at the beginning, i actually laughed. GOT all day everyday.
Yeah, whose bright idea is it to move a few thousand walkers past the town where you live?
That show has been losing me slowly since season two.
No contest, those TWD characters will not survive a day if attacked by the GoT zombies! Not even with their guns and cars.
I still do not understand why people love TWD so much, perhaps the brand “Fantasy” really turns off general audience? Make them watch “Hardhome” and they will never turn back to the dull TWD zombies!
Why do some people like Cilantro? I can’t stand it.
I think they’re both great shows. Too different to compare fully though. Really the zombies of TWD are just part of the scenery anymore, I like it more for the way the surviving humans change with the break down of society and lawlessness. The humans still living are the most dangerous. In GoT I feel like the White Walkers will be the most dangerous, even though its still a somewhat lawless society in a way. GoT is best show on TV right now all around though.
TWD isn’t even on the same planet as Game of Thrones
Walkers shuffle along aimlessly until they catch the scent of , I suppose, life. World War Z zombies freaked me right out with their break neck speed. But the wights are a totally different story. They are controlled with a singular malice. The way they came over that cliff like Lemmings, which didn’t stop them, told me not even a head shot would stop them. I think you’d survive a walker but no way a Wight
The zombies? in I am Legend were pretty cool too…
I love both series. They’re like two different flavours of delicious ice cream for me. GoT undead are much scarier. Really I’m just happy to hear my countryman’s name..Usain Bolt.
I don’t think any of the dead could beat out Usain or his brother Insane.
I’m a fan of the Walking Dead but you’d have to be a moron to think that it is anywhere close to Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones did zombies way better than the Walking Dead could ever dream of. After Hardhome I will never look at zombies the same. The wights on Game of Thrones will always be the high bench mark for how to do zombies the right way.
Wights are not zombies, they’re too fast and driven by supernatural WWs. Zombies, on the other hand, are killed by some kind of virus and driven by natural forces. Wights are warriors, zombie are dead weenies.
I like TWD but it’s inconsistent. Some episodes are brilliant with good acting and writing, then you watch an episode with the girl who played Beth and I’m like what is this shit?
I do like Rick Grimes because I’ve always enjoyed imperfect antihero type characters.
These shows are way to different to compare. I will say an episode that I consider not as good on thrones is still good tv. I can’t say the same for some of the weak twd episodes. I can still enjoy dorne episode can’t say the same about an episode based around a blonde who sings dumb songs lol.
Walking dead I think used real extras and GoT probably filled in empty spaces with CGI
got used extras ;only sceletons cgi;Twd used extras + duplicate 1000 times
Yeah they really don’t compare. The last half hour of hardhome was in my opinion the best piece of television I’ve ever seen The walking deads epissode was good but it wasn’t epic, to compare it to hardhome is actually a bit of an insult to GoT.
What’s the walking dead budget compared to game of thrones?
Would of thought there would of been some guy who would have insulted GOT and claimed the TWD is better. Glad to hear. GOT is by far the best show ever.
The walking dead is just plain gross and unimaginative while GOT walkers r ugly beauties.
Twd is becoming boring and only character driven not much to the stories
