Emeraude Toubia got the shock of her life when she landed the role of Isabelle Lightwood on Freeform\'s new show,

. Emeraude went through a grueling four-month audition process to land the kickass part and fell in love with her complex character in the process. 

We caught up with Emeraude to talk about the pressure of bringing such an iconic character to life on screen and the three things she loves most about Isabelle.

Even though there aren\'t really any human/angel hybrids and demons walking the streets of New York, Emeraude still finds Isabelle majorly inspiring. "She believes that everyone is equal," she shared with Seventeen.com. "Just because she\'s a half-angel doesn\'t mean she\'s better than the vampires or any of the downworlders [human/demons]. There\'s a really nice episode coming up where something big is going to happen to Isabelle and she\'s willing to risk everything, her life as a shadowhunter, to fight for equality. So that\'s something I admire about her."

Emeraude finds the way Isabelle embraces her sexuality seriously refreshing. "She\'s not afraid to be intelligent. She knows exactly how to speak to her crush and she\'s not afraid to go up to him." Turns out, Emeraude is living vicariously through Isabelle in this way! "See, I\'m a little bit shy. I don\'t go up to guys. I\'m all about a guy sending me flowers, getting me chocolates and surprising me. I\'m that kind of girl. Isabelle — she\'s tough. She doesn\'t need flowers. She doesn\'t need anything. It\'s a different type of power that she has."

Even though Isabelle is a kickass, independent girl, she\'s got a soft side too! Emeraude is particularly passionate about whom her character will end up with romantically on

. "I really think it\'s nice that even a strong powerful girl like Isabelle needs love and someone to love her."

should read no further * Let\'s just say her dream guy for Isabelle could turn the current love triangle between Jace, Clary, and Simon into a love square! "I think it\'s beautiful that a girl like Isabelle gets to find someone like Simon that\'s with her and protects her, in a different way. I just love them."

Obviously, we\'re only four episodes into 

and it\'s all about the Jace/Clary/Simon love triangle at the moment, but anyone who\'s read

once Simon starts getting close to Isabelle. And even though

has already strayed quite a bit from the original source material, Emeraude still has hope for Isabelle and Simon. "First it has to be Simon and Clary. They have to go through their thing and then after that, Isabelle and Simon find their love," Emeraude dished. "Maybe at the end of season two, if there\'s a second season, hopefully..."

Ummm, a second season is not an option, it\'s a REQUIREMENT!
