The Little Mermaid or Snow White should win.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - this film is the start of a legacy and is widely known as the greatest animated film of all time.

Beauty and the Beast - the only ever Disney film to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar

The Little Mermaid - ultimately saved Disney from going down under, this movie's success reminded Disney go back to fairy tale musicals which began the renaissance

Cinderella - every little girl has seen this film, she has become the most iconic female character from any Disney film and is known as one of Disney's hallmark achievments

The Princess and the Frog - first African American princess in a more modern setting, brought back the classic Disney art that was ot be forever lost to us

Sleeping Beauty and Pocahontas - hmmmm. I may switch my vote. Pocahontas was the first one based on a true story but Sleeping Beauty was the first one shot in widescreen and the first one using classic ballet music and it is known as Disney's greatest artistic achievment

i like the movie, but i say nothing can beat the classics

I agree with @daisylove. Princess and the Frog just can't beat the classics like Snow White, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid... I can't BELIEVE Sleeping Beauty is losing already! :(

Aw, I'll be sad if sleeping beauty goes so soon. My personal appreciation for the animation style aside, sleeping beauty was the first princess movie to figure out how to properly animate a prince. All the following prince characters owe something to the animating developments they made in that movie. Before then they could only do guys who looked pretty similar, hardly spoke or moved and (going by Snow White's prince) had to be made effeminate if they were going to be shown talking or singing for more than one line (he had on more lipstick than snow white!)
I know Pocahontas was the first one to be based on a true story, but when you think about it, is that important? I don't see how that makes it important, it didn't change the company or how they do business, it didn't make the movie a bigger hit, it didn't affect future movies and it was completely historically inaccurate anyway. It was interesting, but not that important that they went the historical route.

I almost agree with dweeb, I mean about almost all positions, except Sleeping Beauty, I find it very important, here I agree with Mermaid-Tail.

This one isn't really a milestone that much... yes, it's the first historical film, but the others have greater/more important milestones.

It has an important message (one of the most important out of all them along with BatB) but it's not important in regards to the countdown.

There was nothing particularly important about it. :/
Pocahontas was a pretty important film. She's the first native American main character in a Disney film. She also challenged racial prejudices, something which had not been done previously in Disney.
PatF is also an important film. The first black Princess. And right now, I can only think of 3 white characters from the whole film: Lawrence, Lottie and Big Daddy. Naveen isn't white. Heck, he comes from a fictional country, he can be whatever ethnicity he wants!
While I'm on the route of defence, I think I'll detract and say why Sleeping Beauty deserves to go out. What exactly did it do? Well, it basically destroyed Disney by being so unpopular. It's important for that reason, but not many more. I know it used some different animation technique, but let's be honest, that's just technological advancement. That's like saying Toy Story 3D was an important film when it was just the original shot in a 3D way.

This one or The Princess and the Frog. P&F was supposed to be, but it just didn't seem to make much of a difference. Both just weren't that important to Disney as a whole and they were also not very memorable either (at least to me) - except for Maleficent. She is one scary-ass, nightmare inducing villain!!! ;) LOL
