I understand your reasoning but voodoo is not magic which can be offensive to actual people who follow this religion (TPATF got flack for this as well). A better choice would be Jafar or Genie since he's also a trickster, but a benevolent one who is more showy than manipulative.

Well, the reason why I picked him is because the card of the magician originally showed a stage magician, meaning someone who doesn't actually do magic in the common sense. I felt that Facilier, who does tricks on the street and gives out remedies is a better fit to that part of the card. Basically, I picked him exactly because he isn't a magician in the common sense.

But I'll reread the article to check if I made this clear enough.

Ah I see. My only issue with that was that Facilier technically did have magic from the spirits he made a deal with so he wasn't as powerless as he made himself out to be. Jafar would be a better choice in this sense since he actually doesn't have any powers for most of the movie. He just has hypnosis from his staff and the technology to create a storm to power the hourglass.

I considered Jafar, too, but, well, he is frankly a little bit too evil for the card. Not that Facilier isn't evil, but he just feels a little bit more human overall than Jafar does, and he has more of the "be careful when you play with powers you don't understand" vibe. Jafar would have gotten away with it if he hadn't been so arrogant. But I feel that Facilier was always on a dark path which wouldn't have ended well for him.

Though, I admit, him holding the cards kind of was the deciding factor in the end. It was just a too fitting picture to pass it up, since it also allowed me to incorporate the infinity symbol into the picture without any extra effort.

Thank you for your input. You gave me a lot to think about.
