audreygrace412 picked Merida:
Belle had the majority of votes but only 1 comment to eliminate her whereas Jasmine and Merida, the 2 runner ups, both had 2 comments so this is to determine the elimination from Round 5. If Belle still gets the most votes this round, despite comments, she'll be eliminated.

audreygrace412 picked Merida:
I chose Jasmine before but I now realize that she is more unique than Merida.

Merida is the 7th to be born into royalty, 2nd to have both of her parents without either dying, 3rd to have red hair, the 3rd to 6th outdoorsy princess depending on who all you count, the 4th to be shown as a child, the 3rd to not really want to try and be very graceful or princess-like etc, the 5th to run away, 3rd to challenge the law, the 7th to challenge tradition and the 2nd not to end with a prince.
As far as unique, she was the 1st to practice archery and the 1st to have no love interest at all.

Jasmine was the 5th princess to feel "trapped" in some way after all previous before her, 4th princess born into royalty, the 3rd to have just 1 parent and 3rd for that 1 parent to just be the father (in a row), the 2nd to run away, the 5th to have a bit of spunk in her tone and the 2nd to face a male villain.
As far as unique, she was the 1st to be: non-Anglo Caucasian, marry a non-prince and challenge the law affecting other countries (because Ariel challenged the law too but in a totally different way)..

Belle was the 4th princess to feel "trapped" in some way after all previous before her, 3rd princess who was a 'relatable/regular girl' type of princess, the 2nd to marry to become a princess rather than born one, the 2nd to want to explore (after Ariel though for different reasons), the 2nd to have just 1 parent and 2nd for that 1 parent to just be the father, the 4th to have a bit of spunk in her tone and technically the 2nd to show an interest in books and reading (though it's presumed Ariel can't read human since she's a mermaid).
As far as unique, she was the 1st to be: brown-haired brunette, break the spell on her prince - herself - with true love's kiss (instead of the other way around), face a male villain (instead of female) and show such bravery and sacrifice as offering herself in place of her father to save him.

i agree with your reasoning but then being unique also comes from the kind of person they were. I would say Merida as a personality has a strong rebellion, which apart from Jasmine no one else possesses but then she has strong ties with her family. She also was a fighter and a survivor both, together. She was quite fearless like any other.
For Belle, though she also has strong bond with her father, we don;t know anything about her upbringing. Apart from her love for books and ability to see past outer looks, i think she lived quietly in a town that looked at her as a strange person, despite not being so different. She talked very much regular to those who understood her - book store person, mrs. potts and wardrobe, lumiere and cogsworth. She talked gracefully much like others, was outspoken but not outrightly and only if provoked too much, and has a polite demeanor.

Not really a unique character. Maybe her archery and horse-riding skills makes her a little bit unique but that's not enough for me.

Sparklefairy375 picked 茉莉, 茉莉花:
I don't know what's really unique about her. All she do is just waiting for someone to marry her at her birthday. Due from the fact that she's deuteragonist, but still she's the less unique towards other two.

wavesurf picked Merida:
Shooting a bunch of arrows into targets ( Mulan already did that).
Riding on horseback while doing something else (i.e., like carrying a body, and/or arms outstretched for rope, Mulan already did that before Merida did).
Facing down a foe? ( Multiple princess before Merida already did that).
Groaning about being sooooo bored ( Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine already did that).
Seeking adventure and freedom outside of confines? ( Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, and Rapunzel already wanted adventure/freedom).
Rebelling against an authority figure? ( Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, and Rapunzel already did that).
Being resourceful in a split second? ( Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, and Rapunzel were already resourceful before Merida came along).
Forced to marry for some other reason than for love? (Sorry. Jasmine and Pocahontas already did that, thank you).
The first to have a nasty temper on occasion? ( Sorry, that's taken, too. Jasmine and Tiana already did that).

The only new things Merida brings to the table are-- a crop of very curly CGI hair, ripping a tapestry into shreds, cursing her mother and turning her into a bear, and reversing a spell she should never have enacted in the first place. Other than those things, Merida is pretty much generic Disney-- and a very unoriginal entry to the lineup.

anukriti2409, "being unique also comes from the kind of person they were" I understand your points here but I think this can be too subjective because someone who is common or unique in India is not the same as someone who is common or unique in America or Spain etc. That's why it makes more sense to me to rate their uniqueness against each other for what they offer to the line up and/or how unique they are for their own setting in the film. :)
