Best: The killer 2D animation! The Characters and music (I'm one of the few jazz lovers). The ending wasn't what I thought could happen in a DP movie sure killing off the parents but a parent and a sidekick I don't know if that ever has happened in another DP movie but I loved it how it wasn't like all the other endings.
Worst: The Plot holes it has and the story line was easy for me to follow but harder for the rest of my family to keep up with.
What could make it better. I think if they didn't make the movie in 2 or 3 years and made it in 5 or more years they could have put more time and imagination into the whole thing. If they did I'm sure it would be on the top of everyone's favorite list.

Best: The characters. They're awesome! All of them feel whole and organic, they never feel unoriginal to me, and all of the side characters keep me in stitches! I love Tiana, she's the princess everyone was begging for, but she's criticized for exactly what they were begging for. Charlotte is hilarious, and Big Daddy is hilarious too. He's so underrated! I love Naveen he's so entertaining.
Worst: The generally confusing plot with a bunch of loopholes and something being added every few minutes that just cluttered everything.
What could have made it better: Another edit

Best: The characters and atmosphere. Most of the characters are interesting and developed (the ones that need to be). Because of this, the interactions between them are so compelling. The world that the story is in is so fascinating. The bayou sets the perfectly dark and beautiful atmosphere of New Orleans. I love be watched city is full of life and music, which show the carefree-ness of the movie and city.

Worst: the worst aspect of the movie is that it has a few plot holes because the plot with a lot of sub-pops and sub-motives. Because of this, there are a few unanswered questions, and it can be easy for you to be confused. I think tha there are too many useless characters in this movie.

What could have made this movie better: This movie could have been better if the plot was more simple and focused. Also, I think they should have spent more time with Naveen and Tiana as humans, so we could understand and relate to the more. It would have been cool to see how they are around the other characters more, and show a bit more about the prejudice in New Orleans at the time. It could have benefited from another rewrite still.

Best: Lottie (she is hilarious). I also like the idea that Tiana is a workaholic and her relationship to her parents. Some kudos also for the animation, especially the use of orange and green, and the style of the "Almost there" sequence.

Worst: Otherwise, there isn't one single character I like! I was actually glad when Ray was death, because his butt-humour annoyed me to no end, and his whole "I'm in love with a star" story is ridiculous. Naveen's change from spoiled child to...not sure what, isn't organic at all. He should have shown some redeeming qualities much earlier and the process from fiends to lovers should have started earlier, too. Facilier has a nice design but the lack of any personal connection to Tiana or even Naveen, his confusing motivation and the fact that he is basically just the underlings of his friends from the other side make him one of the weaker Disney Villains.
All in all, the movie tries to hard. It tries to hard to be a critic pleaser (not even a public pleaser), by creating a black, feminist princess, who works hard instead of wishing upon a star - but totally forgets for whom this movie is, what the people who like this kind of stuff want to see. I will never understand how they thought that it is a good idea to create for a franchise, which is based on the idea that every girl can be a princess, a story which is entirely based on the idea that you need the right parents of the right husband to become one.
Another weak point is the music (and not because it's jazz, I have liked jazz in other Disney movies just fine)...the movie has a really forgettable score. The songs have, mostly, a nice tune, but terrible lyrics. They are mostly just repeating what the audience knows already or what they see on screen, there is no cleverness in them. And most of them are utterly useless. Like, we get a whole song about what Tiana wants, we already know what Louis and Naveen want, but then the movie puts in a whole song about what all three want, slowing the whole plot down. And don't get me started on "Dig a little deeper", a song in which we get explained in detail what will happen the rest of the movie. And "Ma Belle Angeline"...if there has been ever a pair which would have needed a song to explain why they changed their mind about each other, it's Tiana and Naveen, instead we get a song about a firefly loving a star (and sorry, I just can't take this serious).

What could have made this movie better: Cut down the side characters (for example, what is the point of Stella?) and concentrate on the ones whose story is really important. All the time in the swamp is way to long, especially the part in which they go in the wrong direction. Making Naveen less insulting towards Tiana at the start and the process of their relationship more organic. Throwing out the whole Ray subplot (and him, too). In the end, this movie needs a complete rewrite.

Best: The characters, all of them were creatively made, and have different motives and stories of their own, even a few side characters. And carry different messages that tie up into the main theme. The ambiance is beautifully set, it's loud and festive it but it's still got that peaceful, silent magic Disney has. The film also has one of the strongest starts imo, it showed Tiana's strong familial bond with her parents, which stands as the essence of the movie, then they give us a short introduction to the two leads and the villain. Anyway, this can either be a bad or good aspect since the message is already handed down at us and all we have to do is sit, wait and see how the protagonist's realizes it. The songs are good and catchy. The romance is cute, Tiana and Naveen make a wonderful couple, so does Ray and Evangeline. To summarize, it had memorable and creative characters, a strong beginning, brilliant setting and mood, cute romance and good songs.

Worst: It was a bit messy and despite the creative characters they didn't develop as individuals as well as expected. The score...it's just there. It did have good moments but most of the time it only blends with the mood not create it. And in one period, I considered it a fluff film (eh, sad but true). The start was strong but the movie ended slightly less stronger. And finally, there's Naveen's involvement when it was close to the end, what the hell was he and Lawrence doing inside the church anyway? Humming? No idea. Despite showing indirect care for each other, both of them weren't there for each other at their trials, and that's the downfall of the duo. Lastly, did anybody notice Tiana was missing? At least they could've put a little scene about this....

What could've made it better: The writers could've taken a little more time to finalize the story, (even if I love it the way it is, it could've been improved) Naveen could've had more involvement in Tiana's Fantasy sequence, say I picture a scene where Naveen escapes from Lawrence and looks for Tiana, then he finds himself watching the illusion Dr. Facilier showed Tiana, how she endured a lot of loss for her restaurant and then goes off to find Charlotte. Naveen wanted for Tiana to have her dream, but only because Tiana wanted it. Their relationship would have been more built and meaningful if Naveen wanted her to achieve her dream because he knew how hard she worked for it not only because she dreamt for it and will get sad if she loses it (that's a good enough reason, but still)

I agree with Swanpride's point about the whole "any girl can be a princess" thing. Something else should have needed to break the curse, like Naveen doing something truly selfless or something. That could have also been better when it came to Naveen's character development. I've also seen someone point out that it was strange that The Princess and the Frog was in the movie, so that could have kind of gotten around that, because the story wouldn't have been right. Also, that might have cleared up the plot a bit, too. That really would have been a better idea.
