I hate her

Why?

I'd go through all the reasons but I know I'll get attacked by BelleAnastasia, like always. Anyway the main reason is that she's suppose to be this character who would do anything to protect and help others but she just hides like a coward while hundreds of people suffer. She's hiding from Frollo and just watching him ruin the lives of others and even trying to kill some all because of her. She just stood there watching and could've saved them by turning herself in, which is part of her character to help others even if it causes consequences for her, but she doesn't.

I have a love/hate thing for her.

lol she is the only one i dislike more then Merida... i dont like the "tough girl" types or how she makes money.

I really like her.

@KataraLover, I see your point, but she actually does a lot of saving too. More than the other princesses. I do see where you are coming from, but a lot of the other princesses would do the same thing.

Do saving? Such as what? All she does is saves Pheobus from being killed once. Sure she helps Quasimodo during his torture but all she does is just go up on the stage and for some reason everyone just stops, that required no real action. She's pretty much always getting into distress and having to be saved, if you wanna know more about that go check out my top 10 Biggest Animated Dumba** Damsels In Distress article on the Random club. So what I named above and her being a huge damsel is part of why I hate her but there are others too so I'll help enlighten you on other reasons why I and likely other people hate Esmeralda.

She's aware of Quasimodo's feelings for her and she uses it to her advantage. I mean when Quasi says he has things to do after sunset she just kisses him and he says "Whatever is good for you." People say she wasn't aware of his feelings for her but that scene clearly proves that she's fully aware of his feelings for her. She's aware of it and yet she kisses Pheobus right in front of him. Couldn't she have waited at least for him to leave before kissing some good looking guy she barely even knows. When she leaves she asks him to be careful and make sure nothing bad happens to him. Yeah, she seems real concern that Frollo would punish Quasi for going against him or even kill him if he felt like it. She's also fully aware that only Quasimodo is the one outside of the gypsies who can find the Court of Miracles but instead of thanking him for coming to warn her and save all of the gypsies lives she just goes to her good looking boyfriend, cuddles up to him, and thanks him. She doesn't even thank Quasi AT ALL! Without him Pheobus never would've found them.

Also Quasi actually risks everything he has, risks his life, she actually gets to know him, they share with each other amazing things, are both kindred spirits but she still decides to go with the good looking guy that she has like ten minutes of screentime with. He risks all he is, goes against his master/foster father, and is willing to give up his own life all just for her! I mean this is like the Bella-Edward-Jacob situation in Twilight but the idiot girl goes for the wrong guy, though at least Esmeralda doesn't go with Pheobus just because he's creepy and looks at her weird. I hope I have helped you understand why. But if it makes you feel better she's better in the Disney version than she is in the book, she's MUCH worse in the book.

1. She saved Phoebus from being beheaded by making the horse go crazy, distracting Frollo and the soldiers.
2. Sh saved him from drowning
3. She saved him and Quasimodo from being hung by Clopin.

That is more than the other princesses saved other people.

It was clear she liked Phoebus before either met Quasimodo. About her kissing Quasimodo, she did that to shut him up and to thank him, as he kept on rambling (which he always does even with Frollo). This may have been because she kisses people to show anyone affection, or because she just used him and did not give a crap about him.

So her and the other gypsy lays Phoebus down, and the gypsy walks off. Quasi did no help out Phoebus down, so it was assumed he was elsewhere, and did not approach them. The two talked as she poured beer on his cut and sew it. They end up kissing for about 30 seconds. This entire time, Quasi did not make a sound not approached them the entire ime as he just let them barge in, so it was clear thy were not aware that he was watching their every move, and started a private conversation.

So they go to the Court of Miracles and I agree with you that she was not right in that scene. She gave the map to Quasi and not Phoebus so she should not have given him the credit, though she did because he was the one who warned them and took lead in what to do while Quasi said nothing. She should not have rushed to hug him and give him all of the credit and HE knew the awkwardness of how Quasi felt while she did not notice at all. He told her that it was Quasi who got them there which she goes to approach him, but Frollo shows up and she defends Quasi and tried every chance afterwards to save and defend him. After Frollo is defeated, she runs straight to Quasi and forgets about Phoebus until Quasi joined them together

I am not trying to change your mind or attack you; just sharing my opinion on the matter. Even though I do not wholeheartedly agree with what you said, thank you for awaring me of another perspective of her. I just think other Disneh heroines has done worse than what she has done. I read about 150 pages of the book and read synopsis' of the book, and she was a lot worse. All three of them were.

She also endangered the whole kingdom - all these mermaids, mermen and sea creatured she's supposed to protect and take care of, since she's their princess. And all that for selfish reasons. She also needs to be saved all the time, so she should be in your top 10 Biggest Animated Dumba** Damsels In Distress article, if only you weren't so biased all the time.


Anyway, I love Esmeralda! She's awesome, brave, stunning and lovely. She's be 2nd, right after Belle.

Here's the BIG difference between Ariel and Esmeralda, Ariel is a 16 year old teenager so of course she's going to make bad decisions and Esmeralda is a grown woman.
