I was bored. I was curious. And boredom and curiosity is a deadly combination that often gets me into trouble. xD I can't believe I did it, but I did. I read Bree Tanner.
Even 更多 unbelievable...it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, parts of it were actually pretty...good. Granted, most of it was sort of boring and there wasn't much of a plot (as usual), but it was still a step up from the other books, I think. If the whole Twilight series had been like this, I probably wouldn't hate it as much.
Of course, it helped a LOT that Bree was a stronger character and that it wasn't from Mary Su--*cough* I mean, Bella's POV. The purple prose, the whining, the going on and on how godlike Mr. Sparklepants was, etc...most, if not all of that was gone.
阅读 this makes me wish that the whole series had been about Bree and her gang 或者 the newborns/Vultori in general, honestly. Way 更多 interesting and bloody and vampire-ish (though that's not saying a whole lot when it comes to Twilight, lol). I'm not really into vampires, let alone Meyerpires, but it was still neat to see her struggles and experiences as a "newborn". And seeing the Cullens through her eyes helped me appreciate them a little more. Here she is, a 随意 vampire kid who's known hardly anything but survival and human blood and satisfying her hunger for it...meeting these crazy people who've actually learned to rise above all that. It's mind-boggling to her, and it was neat to explore that a little.
But the VERY BEST PART of the whole thing was Bree - 或者 rather, SMeyer -
referring to her own so-called 吸血鬼 as "walking disco balls". That alone made the whole thing worth 阅读 for me. xDDD
Of course, there just HAD to be a big insta-fall-in-love/sparkly scene (among other ridiculous stuff, aka the typical Mary Sue-isms and the whole secret-ninja-BFF-club thing) in it to remind me that this was still Twilight stuff I was reading. It was utterly lulzy. Here's the excerpt. Read at your own risk.
Everything blazed in the color and light shining off of us.
"Wow," I muttered.
Diego grinned at me, his face beautiful with light, and suddenly, with a deep lurch in my stomach, I realized that the whole BFF thing was way off the mark. For me, anyway. It was just that fast.
His grin softened a little bit into just the hint of a smile. His eyes were wide, like mine. All awe and lights. He touched my face, the way he'd touched my hand, as if he was trying to understand the shine.
"So pretty," he said. He left his hand against my cheek.
I'm not sure how long we stood there, smiling like total idiots, blazing away like glass torches. I'm not sure either, SMeyer. XDDD
(BTW, 你 can read the whole thing here if 你 want:)
