I also believe he wanted to live in a better world himself, but he wasn't actually thinking about himself, he willingly refused of his own personal happiness time and time again due to save his loving ones, he 迷失 the 爱情 of his life, he risked his life plenty of times and ended up "dying", because he was too selfless...
