This was a huge toughie but i think she should have went with her heart! He knew what was at stake and yet he through it all away for her. She should have followed her heart, instead of her head.

i think she made the right decision even though it kills me to think that 2 people that are meant for each other cant make things work between them.

As much as I love the idea of them together
coming back made her who she was
and gave her the ability to write the way she did

if she had gone with him, who knows if we would know who Jane Austin ever was, just some crazy woman that ran off with the man she loved

but because she sacrificed her greatest desire, we have her story to read about and see and adore

she did the right thing, even though i cried like a baby when she left

I am double sided. I would have felt so bad about his family that I wouldn't of wanted to take him away from them. But at the same time if I loved him I wouldn't want to give him up. So I would have been screwed in that situation.

yes but not just because tom's family was at stake. their whole life would have been ruined. they would be unhappy due to the guilt and slowly their love would have been affected. this way, they couldn't have each other but loved each other till the end. it was obvious in the ending that they both respected and loved each other.
