She is also well known for opposing the Motornin method of fighting organized crime with force rather than with incentive.
Emily is notable in the series as the sister of the Sone Imperial Vir Potens named Sherwood Lorin Pedersen, and the best friend and sister in law of Marie Lebel-Pedersen. She does not know of Sherwood's status as a Sone Imperial.

"Why am I hearing this from you, and not the doctor?"
"Because the doctors are on the other side of the building, amputating limbs. Any other questions?"
