, the titular spy agency was officially dismantled, with Phil Coulson left in charge of rebuilding the organization from the ground up. As a result, when the ABC drama returns, fans can expect the series to go “back to basics,” according to star Clark Gregg.
“You’ve got to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. from the ground up in a much more dangerous world where your group is outlawed,”  he told Collider. “So it feels like the early, Sean Connery James Bond with the brass knuckles and not afraid to knock somebody off.”
returns, it’ll be in a new time slot (Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT), which allows for “darker” storytelling, Gregg said, “like I think Marvel needs to be.” Additionally, Gregg said the fact that
will run with few interruptions, save for a hiatus filled by
“Nobody could get a momentum going and when the show started to be on consistently and having story that carried over in an episodic way, that’s when things started to click,” he said. “For the most part, [season two features] straight runs of our show, which is when I think it really works.”

Just so long as they kill off Patton Oswalt’s character, I’ll keep watching.
It’ll be great to see what the show is like with an actual direction, rather than the meandering it did in Season 1.
The closer this series can get to the Jim Steranko version of SHIELD, the better off it will be. This sounds like a very good evolution for the series.
I hope that Phil wears a SHIELD uniform. He always looks out of place in that suit.
Why would you want them to kill off a great character?
