She was in the shadows, laying flat on her stomach with the gun at her side, trying to blend in with the roof of the stone building. Luckily the night was dark, only a tiny sliver of a moon hung in the sky, so she didn’t have to worry. Not yet.
Her finger was poised near the trigger of the gun, and part of her wanted to press it, just out of sheer boredom. But she didn’t. When were they going to come? Part of her wanted to go out and look for them, but she knew not to desert her post. They would come. She touched the radio earpiece in her ear, clicking it to life.
“Blade to Redstream. When do we blow this place up?”
A moment of static, then a voice came on the other end.
“Now.”
Blade sprung to life, pulling explosives out of her 带, 皮带 and tossing them across the roof. She slung the gun under her shoulder and pressed the detonator, swinging over the edge of the roof and down to the ground. She hit the ground and started running, just as the building behind her went up in flames. Now if that doesn’t get them coming, she thought, nothing will.
Sure enough, as she slipped into the darkness of the forest, she heard yelling from somewhere far away. It was getting louder. Footsteps. She smirked. She had forgotten how loud 超能英雄 were. She turned and walked to the edge of the forest. They were here.
Blade smirked again. “Hello, heroes,” she 说 softly, and drawing her gun, stepped out of the forest.
“Now,” she said, her voice dangerously soft, “Who’s going to go first?”
Then she stopped, seeing who had been sent to fight her. Her blood froze cold.
Not them! she thought anxiously. Why did it have to be them?
Because there, standing in front of her, looking just as shocked as she was, was her former team. All of them, staring at her. Mercy, SilverWings--who went 由 AngelWings now--, Harley, Nix--formerly Fin--, Phoebe, Shadow, Skylar, Achilles, Aisling, Jackson, almost everyone. She shuddered. Why?
No, she told herself. I can’t let that get in the way. I’m a grown woman now. Those were teenage friendships, I’m over that now. She drew her gun, preparing to pull the trigger, but she stopped. She couldn’t do it.
The radio crackled in her ear. “Redstream to Blade!” She ignored it.
“Redstream to Blade! Redstream to Blade, 你 read?” Blade sighed, and shut it off. She wouldn’t fall short, no, not until she had her revenge. She would complete her mission, no matter what it took. She would do it: she would destroy the Justice League.
