I need help - major help - with the X-Men comic series plotline?

Umm...I know you're not going to like to hear this, but the way that I learned all of the information I learned was pretty much from piecing together bits and pieces from the wikis combined with the few comics I've been able to get my hands on, which isn't many. I believe the best way to learn is to pick one character and study them all to hell and branch out from there.

For instance, I started with Jean Grey. Obviously, that branched out into Cyclops, Wolverine, Phoenix sagas, etc. I understand that everyone's learning capacities are different, but that was the best way for me to learn. Beware, it's time consuming. ;)

The best website I've found to throw at people which will give a condensed version of the characters and their stories to give them a basic understanding and allowing them to explore on their own is uncannyxmen.net . From there, if there's something that would interest me, I would look it up on comicvine.com 或者 marvel.wikia.com .

Major characters to start exploring with which I would suggest would be Jean Grey, Cyclops, Professor X, and Magneto. Those four pretty much encompass every major plotline and character in the comics.

Professor X's final death has occurred very recently in an event called Avengers vs. X-men. I don't mean to spoil it for you, but since 你 asked, here's the gist of it. The Phoenix Force is coming back, the Avengers decide they want to kill it, X-men want to save it (particularly Cyclops), after a battle between the Avengers and the X-men the Phoenix splits into five parts and enters five X-men (Colossus, Magik, Emma Frost, Namor, Cyclops), Emma and Cyclops end up taking the pieces of the Phoenix from the other three, Cyclops and Emma fight for it, Cyclops wins, he becomes Dark Phoenix, and he kills Charles. Did 你 understand that? Please tell me if 你 don't, 或者 你 can look it up yourself and read on it.

Rachel Summers. Oh, where to begin. Um, she came to the mainstream comic universe from an alternate Apocalyptic universe where the X-men have been essentially destroyed and she has been enslaved. After escaping that 由 coming to the mainstream universe with the help of other friends, she comes to make sure that universe will never happen again. She succeeds and a bunch of other storylines happen.

Hope Summers. She's so complicated, I would just suggest looking her up on different websites and 阅读 so 你 can understand her.

The X-men: First Class comics are pretty much a bunch of extended stories from the original X-men team and are not even close to being the original starting point. I would suggest 阅读 this 文章 all the way through to get a basic understanding of it all.
