Chapter 1
I stared at the last piece of cake in the fridge. It took every bit of my being to close the door of that fridge and walk away. This always happened; every time I stayed at 首页 with nothing to do I took to 食物 to entertain me, which usually meant a lot of self loathing for the days afterwards as I realised how much I eat.
Mum and Dad were gone to an office party and I was left to mind the house, with my older brother Logan, we usually cracked up the karaoke and went wild when left 由 ourselves but tonight he wasn’t feeling well, which was very unusual, so he went to sleep around seven.
It was nearing ten and I was still up. I felt hungry, well not really hungry per say, maybe just puckish 或者 craving 食物 in general. But I tried to fight the urge and I sat in the 长椅, 沙发 and watched a bit of TV. 泰坦尼克号 the movie was on, it had already begun but I decided to watch it. This was one of my all time 最喜爱的 movies, it was a shame Logan wasn’t up he would always do a good English accent and he would dance along to the Irish folk 音乐 on the film.
由 midnight the movie was not over yet but my eyes were fighting to stay open so I turned off the TV cuddled up in the 长椅, 沙发 and drifted off for a minute.
When I opened my eyes I saw Logan at the entrance to the sitting room with a bowl of cereal in his hands “Good morning” he 说 walking over and poking my head “Are 你 alive?”
“Stop!” I told him as I straightened up.
Logan just turned seventeen, just a 年 older than me. We were close, like a brother and sister should be. Mostly because there wasn’t such a big gap between us and we pretty much grew at the same rate. Kate, our sister was twenty and in her 秒 年 in college, she moved out two years 以前 but spent most of the summers with us. We enjoyed being silly, the three of us, but when Kate left it felt like the three musketeers had separated for good so Logan and I became the “Dynamic Duo”.
“Feeling better?” I asked him as he sat beside me and enjoying his cereal.
“Just about, my head is still sore” he 说 “Oh 由 the way where does that keep his migraine pills?”
“In the bathroom press” I replied
He handed me his bowl and hurried to the bathroom, when he came back he was 阅读 the box that contained the pills.
“Two” he 说 to himself “Right!”
He took two pills and put the box back into the bathroom. He left me holding his cereal which now seemed 更多 like cheerios paste than anything else.
When he sat back down I returned his bowl while I 说 “Enjoy”
“What time is it?” Logan asked
I looked at my wrist watch and saw that it was half eight and showed him. “Are mum and Dad back?” i asked him since I hadn’t seen them 或者 heard then last night if they arrived 或者 not.
“Yeah they are upstairs, still asleep I guess”
“Are 你 going practice today?” I wondered since it was Sunday, Logan went to 足球 practice every Sunday. Mum, dad and I would go and support him and go eat out afterwards.
“Of course!” he 说 excitedly “We have a match coming up and we need to win to get through to the semi finals”
Logan loved soccer, it was his big passion every week he would go practice sometimes even twice 或者 three times a week.
I never got soccer, guys in shorts running around chasing a ball and get it into a net, just doesn’t appeal to me. But what annoys me is the way guys make 足球 their lives, every other night Dad and Logan would stay up and watch a game screaming like little girls when their team scored, and growling like mad when their team loses. They would be upset for weeks if their team 迷失 and would ramble on about the manager of the team and the poor choice of players on the field.
Swimming is 更多 my sport, mostly because I’m good at it, 或者 篮球 its 更多 interesting than soccer, I would say.
We waited for a while to see if mum and dad would wake up soon, but it was almost nine and Logan decided to wake them up so that we could get ready as practice began at half ten.
