Chapter 1
Roses.White roses.Over my Grandmother's coffin that layed in front of the eery room.This,dear reader,was the time where I thought it would be the end,the time where my life would turn down a dark trail and I would never find my was back.
It was noon and I was dressed in my black 袍, 礼服 at the funeral I have been dreading.I knew this 日 would come.But wasn't this what happened in everyone's life?Aren't we just meant to 移动 on and forget? Well this was harder for me,you see because my dear grandmother ,May was my only family I had left,see my problem?
The room was rather dark,with green walls and a white ceiling,not a lot of people were there,just some of Gran's 老友记 and the Frey's,and their children.The couple were close 老友记 with my parents.Before they died last summer in a 船, 小船 accident.
“Cleo,honey” Mrs Frey walked into my sight,her long black hair in a bun and her green dress swaying in the Autumn wind.
“Hey,Claire”I wasn't aloud to address her as 'Mrs Frey'.
“Oh,there's 'gonna take her to the cemetery soon,you can ride with us”her heavy Scottish accent was clearly still in her speech,even though she had been in California since she was twelve.
“Cleo!”called little Alex,only five years old,ran up to me in her little white polka dot dress and hugged me adoringly.She had known me since she was born.
“Hello Alex”I said,trying to sound cheerful “That's a very pretty dress”
“Not as pretty as yours”She said,sounding a little jealous.She only had a small Scottish accent in her.But she looked exactly like her mother.She had the light jade eyes,the soft brown hair and the pale skin that never seemed to go brown,no matter how much sun.I remember Claire 展示 me 照片 in black and white of her that I had mistaken her for Alex
Suddenly,the priest strolled up to us, he only looked on his twenties yet, there was a lot of maturity on his pale face.
“Pardon,but I believe we will be progressing to the cemetery now” his voice flowed in the light breeze like music.I nodded weakly and went to sit in the back of the Frey's monstrous black jeep.This Jeep was the one Mr. Frey picked out after their Commodore died from natural causes.I always liked the commodore 更多 than the Jeep.The commodore was closer to the ground.And Mr. Frey's driving was enough to make anyone jump out the window of the car and walk.
