whats the use of sasukes curse mark? what does it do to him....does it hurt him? also how did he get the curse marke and what happend after he got it?

during the original series, team 7 was taking the chunin exams. while in the forest of death, orochimaru showed up and bit sasuke and the curse mark appeared. the mark hurt him at first, but i guess he got used to it. when it spreads all over him, he can draw orochimaru's power from it and he becomes really strong, especially in 秒 stage. however, it comes with a price. the curse mark made him want power and go after orochimaru, and he became evil. recently, itachi, his brother, used a special sword and drew out orochimaru from him and the mark disappeared. sasuke isn't the only one with the curse mark. orochimaru bit alot of people.
