Rosalie’s POV



Alice was waiting on the porch for me. She jumped up and down when I stopped in front of her.
“Maid of honour!” she squealed. Her elfin face was lit up with delight. “How do 你 feel?”
I felt strange. I had despised the idea of this wedding from the moment it had passed Edward’s lips he was to wed this human. Of course I’d aired my 查看 on this wedding but it had only ended disastrously. Edward was furious when he found out. Jasper had to calm him down and Emmett restrained him.
“She is doubtful as it is, Rosalie, without help from you!” He had shouted at me. “Why do 你 insist on destroying something that is very important to me?! Do 你 not care about how I feel? 或者 Kayla for that matter? She’s not herself at the present moment and it kills me to leave her alone to deal with those horrid premonitions and 你 have to make matters worse for her. Why can’t 你 just say you’re happy for me and deal with it.”
He 说 a lot 更多 after that and then stormed off to speak to Kayla. I didn’t say anything to him because I had no defence. Everything he 说 was true. I couldn’t deny it. I was a horrible person. I just couldn’t stand to see him happy with some human who would die eventually when he could have any vampire he wanted. Mostly my anger came from the simple fact he didn’t find me as beautiful as he did Kayla. I was beyond beautiful and he didn’t pine for me like he did her. Not that I wanted him, I 爱情 Emmett, but it was that he was the only male I had encountered that didn’t bend over backwards to do my every whim. He didn’t find me any 更多 beautiful than any other girl.
But he was happy with this girl and I suppose I could be happy for him. I knew I wasn’t particularly nice to Kayla and yet she wanted to make me head bridesmaid. I could have complete control over the wedding. I could annihilate it if I wanted to. And yet she trusts me not to. Head bridesmaids 或者 maid of honours are supposed to be someone really close to you, someone 你 can trust and rely on. That was 更多 Alice than me. It was strange.
“I feel happy,” I said, smiling. “It means she likes me and I like that.”
“Happy?” Alice looked shocked at my answer. “You’re maid of honour, Rose! 你 should be ecstatic! 你 should be excited!”
“I should be like 你 then?”
Alice nodded enthusiastically and I walked past her and into the house. She bounced in behind me and announced to the entire household Kayla had chosen me to be maid of honour. Everyone rushed into the hallway and stared at me. No one was expecting that. Esme hugged me tight and congratulated me.
“Actually, you’re matron of honour since you’re married to Emmett,” Esme said, beaming. “But no one knows you’re married so you’ll have to be maid of honour.”
“Kayla must want this wedding ruined then,” Emmett joked patting me on the back. He kissed my cheek when I gave him my ‘looks could kill’ stare. “On 秒 thought, you’d be great.”
Alice was still bouncing and Jasper had to calm her down 或者 she could hurt herself. I know it seems impossible because she’s a vampire but Alice has her own type of special excitement that is dangerous.
With everyone around me and marvelling at Kayla’s decision to choose me I felt some pride in myself. She had chosen me not Alice 或者 Esme 或者 her mother 或者 another family member.
I raised my head and looked at them all.
“Yes, she chose me,” I said. “And she made a damn good choice. This is going to be the best wedding ever. I’ll make sure of it.”




Edward’s POV


Every time I kissed Kayla she ignited such passion in me that was hard to tame. Most of the time I regained my self control and nothing got out of hand. But sometimes it slipped and I was 迷失 to this beautiful woman who enticed me so. As I kissed her neck the perfume that she wore hit me. Crushed 玫瑰 and violets with a hint of 苹果 did nothing to help me. Her skin seemed 更多 delicious to me. It was a seductive scent tempting me to 吻乐队（Kiss） every part of her. She was up on the work-top, the vase of orchids I had bought her lay shattered on the floor. I had one hand holding her leg around my hip, my other hand on her waist. I wanted to wait but she had me reckless.
“How long will Charlie be away for?” I asked her, my voice low and husky.
“A long time,” she said, through her dazzled state. I looked up at her. I wanted to be sure I wasn’t rushing her. She smiled down at me and I knew she was ready. I kissed her neck again and I felt something in her mind stir. Was she changing her mind?
Oh please, no. I heard her plead silently in her mind. Not now. Another time. When I’m sleeping, I don’t care, just not now.
Did she not want to? But she had smiled at me and her mind was clear on what she wanted. It was odd that she would rather it happened when she was sleeping. Maybe it was –
“Edward!” She spoke this time and suddenly I realised. My head snapped up as I saw her eyes glaze over. She went limp in my arms and I gently lifted her off the 厨房 counter and carried her through to the living room where I lay her on the couch. I sat 下一个 to her on the floor, my head in her lap. She worried me when she went like this. She was completely unresponsive. She couldn’t hear me, speak to me, feel my touch. But her eyes remained wide open and she never blinked. She once had a premonition that lasted fifteen 分钟 and she didn’t blink the entire time. Her eyes were turning 粉, 粉色 already.
I could see everything she was seeing. Right now, it was just a blurred mess as her premonition settled. Then a face appeared. Piercing blue eyes shone brighter than the rest of his face. His usual golden blond hair looked dull and faded 下一个 to his eyes. Something wasn’t right with those eyes. Those eyes that had once mesmerized my fiancée. Then he blurred and faded and another face appeared. Tired and pained brown eyes, golden hair that looked like 鼠, 大鼠 tails. Face bruised and cut. Then as if a camera was zooming out, the face had a body that looked just as bad. 下一个 to the bruised man was small boy with short blond curls and vivid green eyes. The boy didn’t look any better than the man he stood 下一个 to. He was holding his right arm in his left and he looked frightened. Then everything blurred completely and faded.
I waited for Kayla to come round. Sometimes it took a while as her mind was put back into her own body. I saw her blink once....and then again....and her eyes became focused. I sighed with relief. She heard my sigh and sat up. She saw me, my head in her lap, and her red eyes softened. She put a hand on my cheek and smiled.
“I’m okay,” she said, and her smile faded. “But I know someone who isn’t.”



Kayla’s POV

For the first time in over a 年 I had seen Mitchell. I didn’t know how I should feel. Happy that I had seen him even if it was only a premonition 或者 saddened that I’d seen him and known he’d rejected me. Angry because he didn’t want to know me 或者 excited that he was alive. But from what I saw he was okay unlike his cousin. The other man in my premonition was Zachariah, Loren’s nephew who’d kept me 安全 during my kidnapping. He looked in a really bad state. Cuts and bruises and looking like he’d been sleeping rough. And the little boy beside him I took to be his son, Kyo. He looked just as bad and holding his right arm. I hope it wasn’t broken. But didn’t Zachariah have a wife. What was her name? Loretta? I hoped she was okay.
“I recognised Mitchell,” Edward said, lifting his head up. “And I’m sure I know the other man. Wasn’t he in your cell when we rescued you? Emmett was going to kill him?”
“Zachariah.” I nodded. “He didn’t look so good, Edward, and I’m sure that little boy will be his son, Kyo. We need to help them.”
“We don’t know where they are,” he said. “And if we did we should let Charlie deal with it.”
Before I could argue he had lifted me up slid underneath me and sat me on his lap, holding me to his chest.
“I think 你 need to tell me something,” Edward said. “About who is maid of honour?”
Distraction time. Whenever something came up and Edward didn’t want to discuss it any longer he’d distract me somehow. A smile was on his lips. He already knew who maid of honour was. Alice would know because she would have seen it. Everyone knew everything before me.
“Rosalie is maid of honour,” I said. “And I think I made a good decision because it will bring us closer and possibly make us somewhat friends.”
“You do know she is ecstatic about this,” Edward replied. “She may not 显示 it but she is.”
“I could tell. I swear she was going to hug me but changed her mind at the last minute. Just imagine Rosalie and me being like best friends. It would totally piss Alice off.”
I giggled thinking how mad Alice would get if she 迷失 her 芭比娃娃 doll. I don’t think she only saw me as 芭比娃娃 doll but I think she would get a little bit mad if I decided to spend my time with Rosalie rather than her. Just think of all the time I could spend away from the mall. Rosalie was into mechanics which suited me just fine. Anything that kept me away from the department stores.
“Would 你 like to be 老友记 with Rosalie?” Edward asked me, curious.
“Well, yes,” I answered. “Of course I do. Anything to keep her ripping my throat out. I think Rosalie and I could be really great 老友记 if she just looked past the part of me being a human. What is it about me that angers her?”
Edward was thoughtful for a moment. Trying to put it in the kindest way possible, I suppose.
“She worries about me, I think,” he said, slowly. “She knows how I feel when I am not with 你 and if 你 don’t become immortal and die of old age 或者 disease then....well, 你 know already. I think that she doesn’t want to happen because we have been together a long time and we are family.”
“Of course,” I nodded. “Understandable.”
“And the only other reason is that she is vain. She hates that I can look at her not think about her beauty but with 你 I can’t help but think about the way you’re hair feels so soft, the warmth of you’re skin on my cold skin, you’re eyes and how bright and intelligent they are. 你 are just so beautiful mere words cannot describe you.”
I was blushing beyond belief. I always did when Edward spoke about me like that because I knew it was 更多 than just a compliment. I also blushed because Rosalie was jealous of me? That was something I thought I’d never hear. Rosalie was like the most beautiful woman to grace the earth and she was jealous of me. I had to tell someone.
Edward smiled his crooked smile and touched my red cheeks.
“You know I’d say how absolutely stunning 你 are, Edward, but 你 already hear that everyday in my head.”
“And I would blush everyday if I could.”
I kissed him lightly on the lips, wondering how the hell I had managed to capture this vey fine specimen of a vampire.
